Didn't anyone take any pictures? That's it, from now on we need a camera person as part of our pit crew! Dave |

Greg, Sounds like you had a great time. On the issue of your "challenge"... I think you are talking something much different now than when we had discussed the advantage of grip versus hp. I took your statement above that "Blake, you aint got a hope in hell of keeping up with the R1 on the track...race rubber or not." as a totally different sort of challenge, and I'm up for it. So bring your R1 to East Texas. For "the track" I choose OHR. Next CMRA race weekend there is September 25th-26th. We can both enter the "A" Superstock and the Formula 40 Heavyweight 8 blap sprint races on Sunday. If you like, on Saturday we can enter the 50 mile Red River Challenge. You can grid in front of me. Very astute of you to avoid gear changes, as Keith Code teaches, the fewer tasks occupying your mind the better you can concentrate on those that are most important. I too started out not hanging off, too much to think about, not familiar with the technique, better to concentrate on more important tasks, and most importantly, I had absolutely no need to hang off, nothing was dragging. Soon however things started to drag and scrape. Once one gets to a certain point, to go faster one absolutely must hang off. At the same extreme lean angle hanging off allows higher speeds. What was your best lap time? What is the track record? Still think you are fast? I ain't fast. But I bet me and my Buell can beat you and your R1 at Oak Hill Raceway. I'll even give you a five second head start in a five lap race. Just you and me. Go ahead an mount up racing tires too if you like. Different kind of challenge ain't it? Kinda along the lines of ... "Blake, you aint got a hope in hell of keeping up with the R1 on the track...race rubber or not." Lemme see, you claim that your street tires allow you to lap as quickly as race tires; you enjoy a 60 RWHP advantage, AND you want track choice? You must think I'm some kind of pro-racer to demand such an advantage. Sounds a bit cowardly to me. |

No need to hang off... Well, I guess you wouldn't need to if you weren't going real fast. |

How about neither one of you picks the track. Somehow I don't think it's fair to have Dyna running on a track he's never been on when Blake's been on it I don't know how many times. It's also not fair for Blake to run at Road America when he's never been on it. At the end of the day either one can say it was better rider or better bike or better rubber or better horsepower but there's one field we can level - familiarity with the track. So Heartland Park in Topeka. Until then, I can race a bench with the best of em and I'll kick both your @sses. Yeah, I know you already beat me Dyna, but not at Heartland. Greg, Why didn't you hit the track with Dave when he was on something other than a stock Firebolt? Coward. Dave, did your Firebolt have race rubber? (Message edited by blake on August 24, 2004) |

Anyone mouths off like... "Blake, you aint got a hope in hell of keeping up with the R1 on the track...race rubber or not.", I'd say the onus is on them to prove it. |

I was on the track with Dave...he left quite a bit before me & I actually ended the last 2 sessions early due to brain fatigue. It was hotter than hell on the track & it was my first track day in 2 years. Started making a few mental mistakes..overshooting braking markers, etc. And rather than push myself harder than I was ready for I decided to pull off & have some water & cool off. Plus the rider that was slammed down right in front of me & I almost ran him over freaked me out a bit too. Daves Bolt had H2's on it. Decidely more "racey" than my Diablos. CJ..I think the truck was all worn out from all those miles of hauling the Buell around the country Just a fuel pump tho..get it back in a day or 2. They had to drop the tank to get it out. |

Make sure before your next day at OHR that they use weed-be-gone on all the cracks in the surface, those go-carts using the track before you can only take care of so many of them |

BTW...the challenge was you would beat my bike on any track because of your "superior" tires. You even said RA would negate any hp advantage, that the tire difference would be the deciding factor...I still chuckle at that, thanks. Thats just foolish talking there. Tiny little go cart track like OHR would be a close race...never ever said it wouldnt be. How many laps you have on that?? Track knowledge can be & is a huge boost. Blackhawk I would win & RA would decimate the Cyclone. Your bike would be weezing for air on that monster front straight, and the backside & canda corner &..... |

I got in...love my unorthodox style Some of the guys are barely hanging on to their bikes & im just sitting their putting around...with the bike leaned over just as far if not more so than theirs is...why is that? I must have a lower center of gravity...yea thats it.LOL |
