Hey Guys, I recieved an email from Ferris Bueller this morning. In it he stated "i'll be spending Sat night 9/18 and Sun night 9/19 at Iron Horse Stables in Eureka Springs, on my way back to Cali from a three-week road trip." Just thought some of you might be interested in catching up with him. I know he emailed Racerboy and V2WIN also. I have to bounce this off the little boss first and see what she thinks. Keith p.s. here's your excuse to get down there this year! |

After the treatment we received at our last meeting, we are firmly in the maket for a new meeting venue. Any suggestions for an eat-n-meet venue would be welcome. I'll be scouting around Martin City, but call me or post here if you have any suggestions. |

Rusty: If you get in a bind on the Beefy T's let me know. One of the premier sportwear places in the USA is in Lawrence. They do all our TEAM ELVES gear and are super to work with. I also have a great source (albeit Gold Wing Riders) in MN for emboirdery but it takes a bit longer. Keep me posted on the date...I am due a trip home. Court |

Thanks Court, I am hoping to do another shirt design with all things Buell in a collage, also featuring a Team Elves logo, pics of various bikes from the past and such |

Thunder and Tripper, Ferris and JB2 will be traveling from the Indy area to Eureka Springs on Sept 18th. Thier intent is to spend that night at the iron horse stables. They plan on riding around the area on Sept 19th and staying there again that night. I am assuming that they are planning on leaving early on Sept. 20th to head west. I think it would be nice if some of us were able to show them the better roads of the area on Sunday Sept 19th. Keith p.s. why would I put a new tire on for this trip? actually they are both in decent shape at this moment. who knows what three or four weeks will do though. |

well we did it. Derek and I made our own impromptu homecoming trip. After finding out I wouldn't be required to work on Saturday, a plan to attend DaveS' sportbike day in appleton was hatched out. We left around 4:00 on friday and came to rest in Janesville Wisconsin around 1:30 Saturday morning. Looking at the map we determined we were only about 30-40 miles from East Troy. We decided that getting pictures outside of the factory would be pretty cool, so that's the direction we flew off in. I'll let Derek post the pictures he took this weekend. From there we headed up to Milwaukee and grabbed some lunch. Drove up 43Hwy hoping to see Lake Michigan, only got a glimpse briefly. At Manitowac we headed West towards Appleton and Arrived at the dealership at Precisely 2:00, exactly when the big party was supposed to start. Only problem was the dealership was a ghost town, At this point Derek thought seriosly that maybe we had the wrong weekend, I suggested that maybe it was Appleton Michigan, not Wisconsin.....That's about when the radio playing in the dealership ran the promo for Dave's big event....So add a couple of more miles (3) and a fashionably late arrival, and there we were! The center of the Buell sales universe as we know it (right Dave?). I have to admit Dave had a pretty cool thing set up where all sportbike riders were rolling in and out during the day, people were hanging out checking out the bike show and chatting it up. As you may have already suspected, people came from all over the place. I think Dave said he had nine states represented. Their were a lot of badwebbers on hand. Derek and I got to meet a bunch of fun people.... Dyna,CJ,Grape,wyckedflesh,m2me,kinger,midnyte, bomber, outrider, sardog*,socoken, and I am sure I am forgetting some, always cool to put faces to the names..... We started our return trip about 7:00 and decided on a different return route, one that would take us through Waterloo as they were having a Battletrax event on Sunday and that would give us something to look towards other than Kansas.... We made it to Dubuque, headed a little further west and found hotel rooms were scarce as the sprint car circuit was in full swing. Finally ended up staying (after numerous "no vacancy" stops.......well there was the honeymoon suite available at the one place)...at a place in Manchester Iowa. At the Battletrax event we got to see my buddies from KC's Most Wanted and Dan Jackson do there thing. I played on the course but didn't actually run in the timed runs portion of the event. I was riding horribly, sliding all over the place, and my body was pretty much exhausted from the road......in other words, I was going to have a yard sale if I had kept after it. We rolled on though Des Moines and back into KC early evening..... I don't know about Derek but my beer was extra cold, the second one I really didn't taste, the third was a slow soaker and it ended my weekend. there's a whole bunch of pictures of Dave's event under this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/4062/71688.html?1093232383 I am hoping Derek will post his soon, we had a great time, no trouble and next time you see Derek kick him in the , cause it'll probably still be sore.... Derek put 1500 miles on an S1 in just over 48 hours.......incredible, hahahahaha Now, what did I miss out on Digger? P.S. CJ talks "almost" as much as Richie, hahaha your turn Derek....... |

http://www.after5motorcycle.com Hey, you guys are pretty handy so this may not be of any interest around here, but if you like internet prices for tires and have trouble finding a place to get them mounted cheap, I have found an answer. I used this guy to mount some tires I ordered off the internet. He runs it out of his house and has a professional tire changing machine and spin balancer. I brought him the wheels and left them overnight. $30 for mount and balance + internet prices on tires ($211). I bet I saved $50 for the whole deal. Anyway, if you order your tires online and have trouble finding places to mount them cheap, try this guy. Sounds like you had a great trip Sam! |

Ditto a couple of Vodka Tonic's and some dinner and I was feeling pretty good.. It was an awesome experience to say the least and thanks to Bill's extra comfy gel pad and a pair of biking shorts with the big foam maxi pad in the crotch im actually doing incredibly well. Not really too sore at all, well almost, except for the SUPER sun burn I received from hanging out in waterloo at the battletrax all day wearing a tank top. Not too smooth at all!! When I first contemplated the idea while talking with Sam Thurs night at the BRAG meeting I thought nah.. it will kill you on that bike you have never done that many miles at once before. The more I thought about it the more I became determained that I had to do it. I called up Sam Friday morning and said lets go for it. We up and split that afternoon. Had a great ride up there no problems or hickups at all. Had what seemed like a short nap then back on the bikes headed for "home" as in East Troy. Was neat to see the factory and get the pics. If we would have been about 10 minutes later the pics would have had a bunch of scaffolding and stuff in them as they were getting ready to paint the buildings. After convincing Sam there were too many witnesses we would never get away with swiping the Buell flag hanging on the flag pole we took off for Appleton, empty handed. Got there and got to meet everyone. It was good time for sure. I overheard more then a couple of the sportbike guys having conversations about how it was a harley dealer behind it. I think they were all pretty impressed with that. I think Dave definitely helped make the streets more Buell friendly out there and that not all "harley" guys are bad.. We took off from there and started on our way back as Sam said we had to race the racers to each hotel down the road as we went running from one no vacancy to the next. Found a place had another short nap and off again the next morning. Made it to the battletrax event and shed all the gear and stuff again. Thinking "yea nice I can lose the jacket and be comfy in my tank top.." wrong. Anyway got to hang out and meet the stunt guys that was really cool for me. They even let us sample their fifties for a little bit so that was pretty neat. Saw em put on two shows! I got alot of good pictures of that. Then it was time to run home. All was great riding and fantastic weather. No problems no worries just good times! Once you find the comfy spot on the S1 your good to go. The worst part of the ride was the stretch from waterloo to home that really sucked. We changed it up by switching bikes for a gas tank. I dig the Firebolt alot! My one-word descriptive would be "Smoooth" All in all put down alot of miles had an awesome time and it still trips me out to sit back here at work and think to myself "man I rode to wisconsin and back last weekend.." pretty damn neat I think! I didn't get to it last night since I was exhausted but I will get some pictures edited for size and post them tonight! |

They plan on riding around the area on Sept 19th and staying there again that night. I am assuming that they are planning on leaving early on Sept. 20th to head west. Keith, you're partially right. JB2 will have to U-turn for Hartford City early Sunday morning to return to his version of reality. i plan on riding as much of the Ozarks as i can on Sunday, spending that night at the Iron Horse, and i MAY even spend Monday night there as well, depending on how much fun i'm having. then, at THAT point, it's Iron Butt time for sure, back to SoCal and MY particular version of reality. it'd be MOST cool if some of you could meet us somwhere inbound from Indy on Saturday, and show us the best way to Eureka Springs. like i said, JB2 will have to launch for home Sunday morning, but i'm up for getting as much of the Ozarks on me on Sunday as possible, and maybe Monday, too. hope some of y'all can hook up - the first coupla rounds of beer at the Iron Horse are on me. ride to lean, Ferris |

Ok, well last night I got home did my stuff around the house. Then got around to plugging the camera in to the laptop downloaded all the pictures. Went through them and edited them all organised them etc.. Left the laptop on hopped in the shower and when I cam back out to sit down and start the upload process I couldn't get internet explorer to work. Reboot. Reboot. Reboot again. Computer acting very flaky settings are all changed and some weird program cycle going on over and over. Needless to say I didn't get any pictures uploaded. I turned it off for fear of something going real bad. Acts kind of virus like hopefully its not and hopefully I don't lose all my info on it including the pictures.. Sorry Sam I will mess with it later tonight when I get home.. Paul will call you after a bit.. |

Tripper and FB1 - If I can push ferris out the door at a decent hour on Saturday the 18th we should have a full late afternoon of riding in the Ozarks. I don't have to be back to work until 7:30am(CST) on the 20th. If the ridin' and the company is that good I'd ride most of the day Sunday before returning home. Riding at night or showing up to work with a "roadtrip hangover" are small prices to pay for the reward. We'll play it by ear. Mr.Prior, I'm sorry I didn't get to actually meet you but I can assure you I followed your journey daily via BADWEB. I think you already know what your effort means to our community but you should also know that I'm glad you let me be a small part of it. Thanks. Hope we can hook up one day soon. JB2 |

Tripper... I'd help again, but Wednesday evening is a school function for my pet human. Derek can confirm he is a pretty good kid and very normal in spite of his father's condition. I have to go, since he lives with his mother my opportunities to embarrass him in public are limited!!! Besides... you would feel guilty if the old guy croaked moving your piano. I will do what I did last time. "Wow that looks heavy! You should grab it here. Be careful of my beer! Dude that was funny when you almost knocked over that lamp. Hey Sam... get me another beer... careful... careful... back a little more... OK... I have the beer now! Ya might want to lift that off Tripper... he is turning a little blue! You guys look really tired... who'd buying the beer and pizza?" Print this out and tape it to everything that needs moving... and I will be there in spirit! ok, well looks like I got major computer problems! At any rate I was able to salvage our wisconson trip pics. Pretty much all of our pics from DaveS' deal are just about like all the ones posted in his thread. Then I got lots of stunt pictures and these three from the rest of the trip: These are from the battletrax event in Waterloo:

Can anyone tell me does bead blasting or sandblasting harm the underlying metal at all? And is it expensive to have done? |
Shazam
| Posted on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 12:23 pm: |

If it is thin sheetmetal, sandblasting can heat it up enough to warp it. bead blasting depends on the media.... I think we pay about $80 an hour for blasting(includes material) but most places will do small stuff real cheap. what is the material and how big is it? |
