I just want to thank everyone on this board who responded to my posts concerning my search for an xb12r and a reputable dealer. I rode the bike this weekend and have come away just simply amazed at its capabilities. I just love the engine in this thing. Incredible torque and that awesome sound. I haven't even gotten above 4000rpm yet either. This is just what I have been looking for and I think I am going to have this bike for a long time. Handling is great too. I am getting more accustom to it every day and now that I got the suspension set up for my weight I am feeling better all the time. It's funny, I went with a friend of mine today that has a Harley to meet up with some other Harley riders. They barely gave the XB a second glance. There was only one guy who asked any questions about it and I don't think any of them even realized it was related to Harley. I didn't tell them either. Another thing too. I thought we were going on a good group ride. Nope. We rode 10 miles to a bar. I made up an excuse to leave and headed back out to some twisties. Once again thanks everyone. If I had listened to the press I wouldn't be having this much fun.

Awsome! As so many have said, "Welcome to the sickness!" Or CURE, whichever you prefer. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy!

Oh Al you are in for an extra treat since the REAL fun begins over 4,000 rpms!

Glad to see you stuck with Buell even though your first 'dealings' had the potential to sour your opinion.

you know what's funny? 1 out of every 5 cruiser dudes goin down the road won't even give me the hand wave when im on my buell. only the sportbike riders do.

however, when i am on my sportster, 4 out of 5 cruiser dudes will give me the hand wave. AND the sportbike riders still do to. whats up with that?

Sportbikers are happy to be on two wheels. Cruiser initiation requires leather fringe, chaps, and tenure.

Well said, but maybe not tenure, more like manure...

"I made up an excuse to leave and headed back out to some twisties. "

No need for an "excuse". Just stand up and say you're going for a ride, and ride off. No excuses necessary, just ride.

Way to be Mike : )... Just stand up and announce it. "You guys suck... I woke up today to ride. I'll be doing that tomorrow too... If anyone would like to accompany me, now's the time to do it."

i put over 350 highway miles on ma xb12r yesterday...it was fun but i was tired after 200 miles...i wish someone would fabricate those feet rest things i see on the harleys for the buells...i dont think it would take much, maybe 2 bolts to hold it on...just something to put your feet up on and cruise: )

DJ,
Look at the saddlebag thread posted recently where the one guy mod'd his XB into a cruiser format. He had highway pegs.

i ride my sportster because its a fun bike to ride. i dont wear the fringe, the leather chaps, the vest, or the bandana. i don't think its harley's fault, but you know they are loving it. and the yuppies are loving it too.

i love being different.

Ya know, I was talking to a friend of mine who also has a sport bike and he confirmed a thought I have always had. There are two types of Harley riders...1st type really rides. Like they don't think anything about getting on their bike after work and going 200 miles or more. The 2nd type are posers. They ride to town to be seen. They are into the look, sound and status. To each his own but I personally like to ride.

Glad to hear you're diggin' the XB!! I'm always surprised as to how many sportbike guys talk to me about the bike even at my recent track day, since most of them were riding liter bikes. I've never worried about the cruiser guys anyway.

The fringe comment made me laugh!! Although I ride an XB12R, I bought an 883 for my wife back in '01 for Christmas. So she had the bike before she had a license and I told her she could have it under three conditions...
1) She had to take a MSF course
2) She had to wear a helmet at all times
3) She couldn't put any FRINGE on it!!
Well, that was a couple of years ago and she rides a fair amount I think, mostly to work and to see friends and there is no silly fringe on it!!
