So you're saying it would behoove me to head south to Yuma? That's my problem is the whole making a straight south trip down ninety whatever it is to get to Yuma. It doesn't seem to get me anywhere closer to Vista for like 100 or more miles. I need to conserve the center of my tire to make sure I make it back... I suppose I could just swap rear tires when I'm there...

I'll look at the maps a little more...

Alright then... It looks to me like my best bet is to take 10W to 78 S/W which will take me right into Vista...

Going to Yuma I go an hour south to go 45 minutes north.

Going ten all the way over I go 2 hours south.

10 to 78 look like it solves both problems and the road looks infinitely more interesting... I don't really care how long it takes... Even if I have to find a nice wooden picnic table to sleep on somewhere in the middle. Not likely, but I wouldn't mind it. I figure if I get lost I have a debit card and a boss that won't fire me... My bills aren't due until 9-2 and hey, I get paid that day : ).

The difference in routes has more to do with the traffic you will encounter M1, the two hours south is if you were on empty roads. Since with the 10 into LA you would deal with traffic into LA then traffic out of LA at the same time. Take 78 or see if you can figure out how to hit 85 to 8 outside of PHoenix. But I hear you on the save your tire part.

I think I'll take 78... It look like a decent road : ).

BTW... ALL roads are empty to a Buell ; ).

My friend has to go to Phx on Sunday, but I can ride any time and any where this weekend. He didn't tell me until late today so... whatever.

I pretty much need to stick to twisty roads though. I have enough tread on the sides, but I'll need plenty in the center to get to and from Vista next weekend.

James - You wanna meet tomorrow morning (or afternoon or whatever) just on the other side of the spars (wilhoit?)? There's a little roadside bar just before it gets twisty. We could ride back to Prescott and grab a bite to eat, then ride the spars or the whole skull valley circle. Twice even : ). I just need to stay on the edge of my tires : ). Not that I mind...

I think I'm going to order a new tire for the trip.

OK, My $0.02...

M1, The 78 is beautiful! Once you get out of the desert that is...

Everyone else, I'd have to check travel times so we could hook up at the right times, but here's my thoughts.

If everyone is in fact going up a day early for the BBQ, "Saturday", that's when I leave and we could hook up in Yuma. If you're going Sunday morning, I'll see you there. OK if Saturday, the Tucson/Phoenix crowd could head I-8 to Yuma where Eliz and I would hop in. Then on I-8 W. to El Centro where we also hop on the 78 ahead or behind M1. We rendezvous with M1 and whoever else in JULIAN (Sorry initially wrote the wrong town...great mountain town atmosphere and the best apple pie you ever ate, promise...). Then ride on into SD/Vista as an Arizona group.

Again, Sunday morning at 0900 the SD Buell group is leaving from Kearney Mesa HD. I plan on riding with them. Their ride ends at the BBQ.

Don't forget to RSVP with American Sport Bike. They want to know how many mouths they are feeding...

I hate to do it again but...

I just found a set of original styled steel wheels for my '72 Mach on Ebay. I have to buy them. I've been looking for a set with trim rings and center caps for over a year. This isn't the first set I've found, but it's the first time I've had money to afford them. As you may have already guessed, this means I can't afford to do the BBQ (actually, I could afford to go and come back, but not to buy the tire I will NEED either before I go or before I come back, it's that low). I need to buy this set of wheels though, I can't let another set go to someone else.

I'll let Al know too.
Sorry guys and gals...

James, Tomorrow for sure then. Bill, are you still up here? Will you be up here tomorrow?

I'm back home today getting caught up on things and going to work latter. The problem with a PM ride is the weather you saw posted above. It's rained every day up north this week since Tues after 3PM. I got caught in that hail storm in Cottonwood on my way to go dirt biking Wed. I rode two hours that PM with on & off rain but the storms seemed to just go around the spot I was Riding. I'll probably pass on a Sunday PM ride, But I'll post latter to verify.

Azmotorsports has the Diablos on sale... I just bought a set for $220... I think it was $120 for the rear.

I think the Honda shop will charge about $20 if I bring in the rim, which means I'll need the tire before Friday. I think the total would be about $150. I'll keep track of where the money comes from and I'll get it back to you all. I actually make decent money it's just that I finally paid off my Mustang last month ($400/Mo) and there's just a couple things I need to take care of before I can kick that $400 into my play money fund (which includes bike tires) each month. I think I have about $1200 in my acct at the moment but on the 2nd I need to FINALLY pay the tax/title/license on my bike... The check after that is nearly free so I'll have at least $1000 to play with plus whatever I have left over from whats in there now (after paying for the Buell, Ins., rent, internet).

Anyway, I think I can send checks out about mid September...

I'll look for a tire. Any idea what is the best way to transfer funds? I don't need them before the BBQ, but just before rent is due on the second. I'm sorry if that sounds like I'm making a demand from my position... I hate this sort of situation, but I REALLY want to go : ).

Alright, I just put in an order to AZ Motorosports for a 180/55-17 Metzeler M1 for a total of $142. I think that even if no one else chips in I'll have enough.

James - Tomorrow at 2:30 is good. Which way will you be coming up? If I17, then we could meet at the Woody's on this side of town. If through Wickenberg, we can meet at the little bar just before the spars. It's RIGHT after a cattle guard and RIGHT before a right hand sweeper. It's a 35MPH zone right there. The bar is on the right side of the road. We can grab a bite to eat when we get into town if you'd like, then figure out where to go from there.
