I do not have a key for the fork lock on my S2. I see that there is a number on the cover of the lock. Who would I contact to get a key? H-D? Buell? A dealer? |

unless you really *need* it, I wouldn't bother with that key. When I got my pre-owned S2, I was wondering about the bent and mangled key ... well, the front end will happily swoop to the left and promptly bend/break that key for you Henrik |

Funny, I use the S2 fork lock all the time with no problem. Of course I've probably just doomed myself to a fork flop key mangling now. |

Mike: Certain folks can and I admire them. As a "skitzovert" suffering from "Court'sheimers" (where'd I put that key?) and in view of the fact that a 8 month old child armed with w plastic rattler can defeat the lock AND the knowledge of what it takes to get those old suitcase (yes, Alice...it's true) keys replaced...I just chain my bike. Then the sum total of the problems I face is remembering where I put it and which one is mine. CAVEAT: Do not attempt an impressive (wanna see torque, I'll show you torque" power launch at the Mall of America BEFORE removing the locked cable attaching BOTH front and rear wheels. Yeah...remind me to tell you the terminal velocity of a chained Buell someday. Court (unwelcome, but remembered in MN) |

Thanks for the visual imagery. I back up the fork lock with a disk lock. I let memories of stories from others remind me to remove the lock before proceeding. Ignore the gouges on my disk lock, they are not really there. |

I stopped using fork lock a long time ago when a buddy observed me using the one on the Yamaha I was riding at the time ... he asked, what the ehck are you doin (or words to that effect), I said, locking my bike? he walked over, grabbed the bars, gave a jerk (to the bars!), looked down at the fork that was now pointing toward the other direction of travel (said bar jerk acoompanied with a slight "click", nodded his head, and walked off |

I use it to basically keep the honest people honest and to slow down any pranksters around here. The dishonest ones use vans and trucks and chainsaws and such so few locks will stop them, and unfortunately flinging lead is not usually an advised response. |

>>>Ignore the gouges on my disk lock, they are not really there. Yeah...and my collection front fenders with the chunks out of them is vapr. Simon: the "chain" was actually none of those plastic coated cables and a HD lock. I'd (following 2 speeding tickets the prior day and a great Mexican food dinner the night before) slept late the last day of my 31 day jaunt through 37 states. I woke up and it was POURING rain. I'd ridden in 100F+ temps for 30 consecutive days and hadn't seen rain. I decided to sleep an extra hour. I slept MORE than an hour, awoke and realized that I was due for my "Grand Return" to the Buell factory. The rain continued in sheets as I took all the luggage, tank bag, laptop, etc to the bike with a newspaper over my head. I pulled the choke, looked at the folks looking "at the nut" in the parking lot, gas, dump clutch and KABOOM. During the ensuring trip I was pulled over twice, in the 60+MPH winds and driving rains, by the Highway Patrol and it was "suggested" (they couldn't MAKE me) that I leave the road until it blew threw. I kept on (foolishly, for the record). It was a great day, a poingnat reminder to make sure locks are off and a fitting into to the evening (See "Court and the Buell Astronauts" or "Wheelies for the Homeless" - 1995) and the next day when Marty and I were arrested on I-94 and I missed my Victory Parade Lap at Road America. I have posted this before, but never got a "real" answer. Court, help me out. . . H-D lettering has meanings about the bike, like the forks, or the engine, style and such. What does "S2" represent? |

No problem Court. Won't have many in front of planes anymore though as I let my licence lapse a couple of years ago. Dodging between all the controlled airspace around London was not the pleasure I hoped it might be. Maybe in a few years........ |

Sir Simon: Dodging airborne Brits, for the coming 18 years, will be the least of your concerns....you, my friend, are going to be BUSY! Mine just graduated and I am starting to look at getting my license current... You have been warned.

wish list? taller "T" model bars corbin seat borla exhaust smoothbore carb Nallin kit h4 headlight upgrade and a note as to the fork lock, I simply hold the handlebars with my right hand to keep the front end in place while I lock or unlock the steering. Over 150,000 miles on my S2 and I still have the original key, intact. |

Mandatory? Gas in the tank, oil in the engine, lube in the tranny, air in the tires. And as long as your handlebars are fine then that is the total mandatory list. Define your goals and desires, list your dislikes, adjust the plan accordingly. |

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep the speedometor cable attached to the front fender on my S2? I bought some new black plastic clamps from my Harley dealer, but the cable continues to detach from the front fender. Thanks for your help. |

Get the later cable guide it attaches to the fender mount screw... It is called a wire form cable guide part # 67368-95Y... Y means Buell only but it was used on later models till they went with the sensor.... |
