Hey all, my rear intake pushrod tube is a leaking. When I got the bike, the rubber seal was smashed by the hold down collar and when I replaced the seal (and updated the rocker box gaskets) I stripped the threads in the case. I was able to find a longer bolt, which reached the threads left in the case and was able to get the correct torqe on that bolt but it is still leaking I noticed (afte reading some archives) that the consensus is the collar needs to be flat/flush on the case. I can still see a little gap under mine. Can you suggest a way to either re-cut the threads or drill (how would you get a drill in there) and cut new threads. Or could the collar be not "flat"? Any suggestions?

Thanks,,,

jm

Look at NRHS new billet replacements at $30+ per pair.

Having some issues with my collapsible pushrod covers...took the bike out for the first spring ride today after putting new piston rings and new thunderstorm heads on this winter. Cruised around a bit and oil is coming out of the very front pushrod cover, and a decent amount. The others seem ok. I had modified 883 heads on there before, and no issues with oil leaking. How can I get the pushrod covers to fit better? It's making a mess right now. Oil all over the place.

Had this problem [leaky pushrod tubes] on my FXR. Cured it by collapsing the tube, drying it [the 0-ring seat]out as best I could with rags and adding a bit of Hi Temp RTV silicon glue and then reassembling.
