I thought it couldn' be done,It can with for me a lot of practice.Sometimes I'll pop up a 2nd gear wheelie by speed shitting from 1rst to 2nd gear. Then other times I have it in 2nd gear will be going about 35 to 45 mph then fan clutch it with thrusting the throttle so the rpm hit about 4800 to low 5000 rpm depending on how fast I'm running. Lean back on the seat to help find the balance point I need,to hold it up at 10-11 o'clock position. Then I like to test myself on how long can I keep it up!!!!FUN!!!Been doing that for a while now I have been going to the next step.3RD GEAR!!!!Shifting into 3RD is hard for me,sometimes I throttle to hard and sometimes not hard enough and sometimes I just miss 3RD gear. That sucks!!!!!So I'm going to reverse my shifter to when I shift it I will be shifting downward ,not up so I'm not pulling up.Will post when I'm successful, not sure when that will be.Still have a great time pulling the long 2ND gear wheelies and grinding down my knee sliders.Just riden' with all my Beull(BRAG) buds and metric buds as well!!!Had a great time at the Twisted Sisters at T.W.O this weekend.Fred if you see this fun riding with you, what do you think about my under powered Buell spanking your FZR1000.Not going to far with that cause you are a great rider can't wait until next time.Like the way you pulled away from me on the straits I always was on your rear when we hit it back into the curves.FUN!!!!FUN!!! |

What's the "foolproof" way to do second gear wheelies? A fool is askin'. |

40-50mph,stand up,let off throttle a little,JUMP DOWN ON PEGS,hammer the gas. |

Don't know a fool proof way. Just get up to about 4500 rpm in first shift into 2nd without letting off the gas. And practice. |

There is a much easier way thats not so abusive & not nearly as dangerous as Donnies method. Remind me to tell you about it some day......... |

Dave - no, I've got a set sitting at American HD for me. Don't forget to talk to Hoban this weekend for me, though, and hopefully inside a month I'll be hitting you up for the cam cover and black wheels. Which limb would you like this time? I don't use the left hand all that much... |

Well I can wheelie running up in first to 4500, then just whacking it WFO and up she comes no problem, but we were talking about 2nd gear. |

http://www.uponone.com/videos.php?id=1667 Step by step clutch dip method. MUCH scarier than letting off the throttle and wacking it to get the front tire up but it DEFINETLY works just comes up ALOT faster than im used to. |

-=shrugs=- I just might, if I find someone I trust to do it. It would be substantially cheaper than buying new wheels, and provided I do it in the winter won't cut into my riding time (on the 'bolt anyways, there's always the Blast!)Didn't someone recently have their wheels done by the company that actually DOES do the coatings for Buell? What was their website? ...Glitch mentioned that Jet-Hot now does black coatings as well...gonna have to do that to the new (or used - don't forget, Dave!) header pipe. |

The safest and easiest (If their is such a thing) is speed shifting from 1rst o 2nd gear with more throttle as you get more confidence, safety first!!!!!For me the slow 1rst gear creeper wheelie is the hardest and easiest to flip over.Torqer seems to have mastered the creeper 2mph to 5mph wheelie.Thats right Torqer I'm giving you street credit!!!But don't take it to far HA!!! Ha!!!!Ha!!! |

Hi guys. For someone who's been riding for years, I'm CRAP at wheelies! The only time I do a half decent one it's by accident, every other time I just go faster with the front wheel skimming off the ground... What's the best way to practise? Get it to a steady 4500rpm in 1st then wind it all the way open and pull back? Everyone says Buell's are wheelie monsters, but I think I have too much self preservation instinct thanks, lemonchili |

Lemon, if you're like me and been riding forever than you've got in the habit of keeping the wheels on the pavement. I noticed that when I try and do a wheelie, I do what I've always done when accelerating hard, I lean forward, wheelies don't like it when you lean forward. |

scoot back and you can pull it up at the same time you are whacking the throttle. Tank slappers are not cool and when you are setting her down do it gently so wouldn't look like a beginner when people sees you. |

Sit / lean back,3500-4000 rpm shut throttle let forks compress, wack it on the rebound, watch out for that floaty spot, thats the spot were u actually ride them but its also the balance point. If u do it right u dont even have to pull on the bars. (Message edited by stonecoldbuellin on August 17, 2004) |
