I need some help. I had to replace a head gasket in my 98 S1 and all seemed to go smooth except it seems like I'm running lean now. I don't have popping on deceleration like I'm used to having when I have intake leaks and I've checked that out. An old schooler tells me the timing is off but I can't understand how the timing could have changed. please point me in the right direction. |

Hey! Just got back from a trip and wanted to let everyone know of a FANTASTIC motorcycle road. It may have been mentioned before at one time or another but anyway: Cape Breton, Nova Scotia: Cabot Trail. INCREDIBLE road! I was in my car (a Subaru WRX, so plenty fun) but what a ride! Very similar to Deal's Gap, (been there a couple of times in cars, Toyota Supra and the WRX). Differs from the Gap as it is faster, much fewer hairpins, but still plent of them. Much more mountinaous, feels like Monaco with out the casinos and wealth, sort of like the beginning of "Goldeneye" or "To Catch a Thief" that kind of road. Ok I've never been to Monaco, but it's what I imagine it's like, don't get all persnickity on me. 4th gear straightaways, followed by 3rd gear sweepers then 2nd gear tire-howling haipins - then repeat. All the while ascending or descending incredible mountain terrain surrounded by ocean on one side and forrests and cliffs on the other. Gotta deal with some RVs and cars, but the straights allow for some passing, plus the Nova Scotians seems to understand the meaning of passing with confidince as frequently there are passing areas that are only a few hundred feet, so if you've got the guts and the tourqe - go for it. Watch out for moose! The pictures above could certainly be a reality up there. My wife and I did some back-country camping as well as white knuckle driving and we had a HUGE moose wandering through our camp-site completely non-plused by our presence. Anyway, back to the roads: Lotsa motorcycles. Mostly Harleys. Saw a few Ducatis and one Aprila Turono (sp?) and this is funny: As I was salivating over these roads I kept looking for a Buell, and at the moment I was most vividly musing on the likelyhood of seeing one, much like I imagine a bird watcher seeks out rare species, there popped out around a corner a black S3 with the large bags and it appeared to have a tank bag as well. There are some cool ways to get up there with your ride too. The Scotia Prince which is a cruise-ship style car (and cycle) ferry and more amazing: "The Cat" a high-speed catamaran - 50MPH and three hours for the crossing (as opposed to 8hrs or 600 miles over land). We took both, one coming and one returning, both are really neat but the Cat has a huge "gee-whiz" factor and made me feel like 007. So to sum it up - the Cabot trail ranks as one of the top two roads I've driven on, right up there with Deals Gap and I don't know which would rank supreme. Hope this finds you all well, David "bicycle lurker" |

I am trying to get a position a little more forward, little lower, more like a drag bar. Any tips? I had Crossroads on my last bike and I am looking for something more along the likes of those, just can't afford Crossroads right now. Ken |

Do the 2000 X1 have more hp than a 1999 X1. I have heard that the 2000 X1 have a hotter cam and bigger heads, ext. I have tryed to find some info on this and ask around, but I can find the answers. Any help would be helpfull. |

The two thousand lightning has a lighter flywheel that will rev faster but the cams and heads were the same, so they both made equal horsepower. Rob. |

Just wanted to thank all of you for the great time I had in New Foundland. Newfie is a class act host and all the BADWEB guys I met made me feel real welcome. Being new to badweb and not owning a buell I'll most likely be lurking in the shadows but I'm usually up for a good ride and some mostly harmless carrying on for the most part. |

Absolutely! I wound up changing out my chain in Pa. The chain was shot. Glad to see you made it home alright and I take it the home coming was a welcome sight. We'll have to meet up at galena some time and I'll pay you back for the toll money loan. Do you accept beer as payment? |

I sat down this morning and tallied up the contribution to the American Cancer Society through the Ride Across North America. Total raised: $3707.62. Thanks to everyone for their support to this great cause. I will be meeting with my ACS reps early next week to give them the check! Alex |

I am looking to buy at 2000 Lightning. Is there any + or - with a 2000 vs a 1999? I have heard that the fuel take is larger with the 00' and the motor is stronger with the 2000. Any help would be very helpfull. |

Didn't you ask this already in another topic? Same engine except for lighter flywheel in the '00. Same fuel tanks. Get the 2000 if you can, less issues compared to the first year bikes. |

I just wanted to drop a quick line here to say "thanks!" to all the advice and tech tips that other's have left here on the board. I recently finished a project of transplanting a 2000 M2 engine into a custom softail frame. The biggest problem with doing this is that most of the "mechanics" think "sportster" not Buell and it causes problems. Using the info here on the board, I've managed to do a lot of things that I originally thought I could't do myself, such as: Adjust the clutch properly Tension the drivebelt properly clean/adjust the carb properly change over to pure synth in both the engine and gear box.(Syn3 in engine, mobil 1 75/w90 in tranny. Although I'm going with Amsoil as soon as I can get some) Get the correct sparkplugs for the bike installed. Now the bike runs like a raped ape with a red hot poker in it's nether regions when I romp on it, but it actually runs nice, and well behaved when just idling in controlled trafic areas. Now it's time to head on over to NRHS and start doing some "fun" upgrades Again thanks a lot, and I look foreward to contributing myself |

Hey Jeff. Mancuso HD, the newer NW location, is having a dyno day for the Buell group on Sunday. Wanna come up for it? Supposed to be a ride afterwards. |

Hello, Henrik. Glad to be back. I'm alive and well and riding another pushrod twin of another nature. The others are parts bike currently. Other anomalies in my life now are love, and most recently, unemployment. Guess I'd better get back to job hunting. I'm working more now than when I was working. |

That might be a good time. I am supposed to have my kids this weekend, but they may end up going to a birthday party instead, so I might be able to make it. |
