greetings from the uk.......just about to lay down some of my hard earned money on a brand new xb12s, and am considering having the official race kit added from new.....now im wondering if its better to leave this off and purchase some other kit for the bike with the money saved....my concerns are as follows
1)the race exhaust is generally regarded as a bit of a rust monster, and fitment only really improves the very top end of the rev range, not really what i would like for a big v twin....and there may be better alternative pipes available...is it only the noise level that increases and not the useable power that i would like?
2)the race ecm can cause slight rough running and is really only designed for race conditions and might not be the best thing to have on a road bike...would it be better to stick with the standard ecm,and poss snip the white wire to improve performance that way, heard some talk of this mod,but does it only apply to the 9 and not the 12?
everyone seems to have the race kit fitted, but is it really the way to go as it isnt cheap.although my dealer has discounted it a great deal from its original price, just would like some informed answers from those who already own these bikes to make up my mind for me

Get a DRUMMER, you'll be happier. I've had both. Of course the stock setup isn't bad at all (XB12). For the price, you're gaining more sound than power with the XB12 for the price.

can a drummer or any other aftermarket exhaust be used with the standard ecm without causing any problems?.......i think ive read somewhere that this is possible, but is it worthwhile fitting any other pipe without the race ecm?....idealy id get just the bits of the race kit other than the buell exhaust and fit another "race" pipe that would last longer and give a better spread of power

My Drummer is getting a bit of rust near the tail pipe but it has been on since last fall, so a bit of flat black and it should be good as new again.

Once I added the filter and ecm, it woke the thing right up, so I would get all at once whatever you do. For me, I love the Drummer but might consider the race exhaust being overseas and all, but you cannot lose with the Drummer. It has both sound and power right where you really need it.
