Rex,take the tank by Manuel's Auto Body in Vallejo, its 11 Cypress St.and ask for Goose or Manuel.I talked to them and they might be able to repair.I know they will do their best,I have used them for years. They painted the Bonneville bike. |

Are they the guys that Terry recommended to do my M-2 air filter covers? Do you have their number? Can they do fiberglass? Do you know when they are open? I need to get my two air box covers over to them for glossy black paint, a HD insert in Red for my S-2, and now the RSS tank repair.....The repair should be easy....Glass only......no paint needed underneath.....maybe you can call me tomorrow....rex 925 673 0849 |

Looks like I am progressing with getting my tank redone on the RSS. Apparently the coating in the tanks was not made for some of the new gasolines made today, and breaks down. The new gas can disolve the tank materials and get into your motor. |

I know a guy that rebuilds the original shocks tho he has not yet located replacement springs if you want a stiffer one.

How much for the rebuild? I would need a heavier spring. thanks, REX |

Modesto buell, whoops, sorry, Ducati said that it costs almost as much to rebuild the buell shock as a new shock from performance shock, etc....rex |

Don't know if he found a heavier spring yet (unless you go with a straight-rate) but you could always crank the mechanical pre-load. Shock was $65 to rebuild. |

I was wondering what brand size tire people are running on their bikes and if any problems with leaking around the bead. I have a 1993 RS1200 and had Dunlop d205 170/60zr17 120/70zr17 tires installed by local Harley dealer. Seemed okay for about a year and now the rear tire goes flat in about two days. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks, Dan |

I'm running Metzeler Z6s on my RS. I think it came with Dunlop 204s like the S2s (Court's brochure looks to be for early 89/90 RSs). I'd check the valve stem for leaking first. |

It is for 1989, Interesting enough that tire size never never mentioned in any of the RR1200/RS1200/RSS1200 Owners Manuals, Service Manuals or Part Manuals. I'll look again. If I recall, it has to be on the bike somewhere for DOT regs. I'll look again. Court |

My '90 came with K591's (still have'em). The RR came with Pirelli's (still have those too). 16 inch Dymag wheels. |

Gentlemen, The above bikes were equipped with 3.5" and 4.5" (presumably) radial compatible 17" rims, yet were shod with Dunlop K591's. Any K591 Dunlop I've ever seen was a bias ply type tire, not a radial. Was it deemed bias ply tire technology was superior for this application than radial, or was there actually a radial 591 produced that I was unaware of? just curious, L |

The '91 RS/RSS brochure I have says (sorry, no scanner) : Tires: Dunlop 591 120/70-17 front, Dunlop 591 170/60-17 rear Go figure. I could have sworn those had been the original 204s. |

My RS has been "down" for 2months now. I hope to have all the parts I need this afternoon. I also need repair work on the tank. If you lift the rear without having the front up and supported you'll crack the fiberglass around those front two bolt holes - which happened to this RS before it left the original dealership. It's not a bike, it's a habit. |

Remember to hook the battery up *before* you put the side panels on. Opps. Also, grease all the cables - my throttle and choke cable were bone dry and had major issues moving. Now my only issue is the poor HD quality on the primary cover - the clear coat is cracking and looks like hell. Still waiting on parts. |

Josh, I just took a look at your profile and want you to know that I hate you......Unless one of those babies isn't getting enough attention, then I'm willing to stop by and help you out. Give me a shout if you ever get close to Indy. |

Easy, I sold the S3 and am trying to sell the S1. My new FJR1300 should be here in a few weeks (which I've been saying since late July) so soon it will only be 2 Buells and you can stop hating me I'm only 4 hours from you. Stop by before I sell the S1 and you can take a ride. |

Thanks for the offer. It would be nice to get a comparison now that I've spent some time on the S3 but in the long run it would only frustrate me! In all reality, the FJR is presently at the top of the list as my next bike.... |
