Can the fitment of certain S&S parts significantly improve the reliability of my 2000 M2. I'm not so much after huge performance gains, just piece of mind. |

Specifically what parts? What usage conditions? |

I DON'T INTEND TO RACE MY BIKE, JUST TO WORK AND BACK WEEKDAYS AND A JAUNT THROUGH THE HILLS ON WEEKENDS. I'VE NOT HAD MY M2 THAT LONG BUT I SEE THAT THERE'S A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF UNRELIABLITY ASPECTS TO THE BIKE. FOR INSTANCE THE ROCKER BOXES SEEM TO LEAK. I RIDE EVERY DAY AND I NEED TO GET TO WORK SO I NEED A RIDE THAT GOES EVERY DAY. I LOVE THE BIKE AND JUST THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE SOME PARTS THAT ARE NOTORIOUSLY TROUBLESOME THAT S&S MAKE BETTER. IF I COULD PICK UP SOME HORSEPOWER AS WELL THAT WOULD BE A BONUS. I'M NOT HAVING A WINGE, JUST CURIOUS ABOUT WHATS OUT THERE TO MAKE MY BIKE BETTER. |

I rode my 2000 M2 from Milwaukee to Seattle with no problem apart from oil disappearing occasionally. The rocker box leaks are fixed with the newest style of rocker gaskets. Breather blowby seems to be mostly fixed by upgrading to the XB style of rocker covers. Update your primary chain tensioner to the newer thicker plate one. Do your service intervals and keep an eye on the wheel bearings and oil pump pinion gear and you should be all set to go. These are somewhat the most likely recurring issues, and they're relatively minor unless something breaks. Do the preventative maintenance items (like the primary tensioner upgrade and inspecting the oil pump gear) and all should be fine for many many miles. Nothing else to really worry about in your application, now squirt a shot of WD-40 or Tri-Flow onto your keyboard as your caplock seems to be sticking a little. And how close are you to South Adelade (sp?)? There's a gentleman down that way you may want to meet up with someday. |

Thanks MikeJ for the post, since I made that last post I've just completed a 4500 klm trip and it went like a trooper all the way. I don't know any Buell riders and any info is appreciated. Are the xb rocker covers an easy fit/easy to get. Also I've heard there was a recall of the 2000 model. What was that for. I don't mean to sound like a worry wart, I just want to learn as much about my bike as possible. Thanks. |

Tyson: Welcome! Ross is closer to you in Queensland, Paul Rogers is mucho km away down near Adelaide in South Australia. Both are avid Buellers and have been for years. Both get here to the US frequently and are very Buell Savvy. Good to have you here Mate, Court |

Marlin, I could be wrong but I believe the only recall on the M2 was for the rear shock. Your local/regional dealership should be able to verify by VIN number if your bike is recorded as having the shock updated. Do a search on the site here for "BluzM2" and "rocker cover". He posted a photo series of his update, I think he's done both his M2 and his S2 with the XB rocker cover change. |
