Odie, I just went back to the stock configuration (no real good reason. -=shrugs=- Now I've got a 12 top that I'm going to drill or carve up, which basically amounts to the same thing with less work!

M1, if you (or anyone) let the air into the intake tract a different way than thru the frame (which I don't really care for- unique and neat but not efficient)I was thinking that you could make a plug for the bottom of it and use it for storage- tire plug kit, inflation CO2 cartridges, small pistol, etc. Just a thought. I think I would get more use out of that than a quart of fuel.........

Well with regards to the Drilled filter box ,Nice sound,.. and at 4000 rpms in 2nd just a quick wack will lift the front wheel abit, and third seemed to get pretty light up front as well sure seems like better throtle response to me,and I really don`t think the water thing wd. be a plm. after all, can``t see much being able to get in there anyways like I said if the filter is OIled as it should be, any water that found its way in I don`t think wd. pentrate the filter..BE nice to have a clear outer box so you could see with a water hose etc. directed at it.,is a drain at the back somewhere needed just in case???

Odie wd. you still not have to leave that open for the rear cyl. cooling , as I think its open in back to direct air also to the rear cyl. I might be wrong though..???

What about the dimple, nimble or whatever one calls it in the top of the 12 air box,If you use the plex glass, or plate steel or whatever for a top cover don`t you lose that swirl on top and does that matter I wonder???

Awesome guys!

Odie, let us xb12 guys know how it works with the Drummer!

How much louder is the intake than with just the race filter, and did you remove the snorkle?

Also you may have already answered, but are you running the stock 12 ECM and any sign of more pinging/knocking than before?

I think you are going to want a steering damper when you get done as that front is going to be light a lot of the time : )

I'll post up picts of my damper from Kosco when it arrives and I mount it up.

Hogs, if you just sealed up the bottom of the hole in the frame you could still leave the intake scoop to take air to the rear cylinder. It may even get more air afterwards. I don't think water is a problem with this set-up. Tatsu has a good idea- Nitrous!!!

Xbolt12- I am running the stock filter right now but will switch to K&N soon. Stock ECM also for now. I did remove the snorkel. It is a good bit louder than before with the holes drilled in the box. I suspect it would be slightly louder with the set-up Darthane was using. It sounds good though. Like Hogs said, I do feel there is a decent bit more power but haven't had a chance to really get on it. Maybe tomorrow!! BTW- no pinging.

I wanted to dyno it before I did anything to it but just don't have the time. I am going to after a few more months and my schedule lightens up a bit. Accurate Engineering has one in Dothan. They rebuilt my shovelhead motor in my wideglide and dynoed it three times now. $45 an hour for dyno time. Pretty good deal I think.

Trench, for you and others running stock ecm's on 12's and have need to throw the servo motor this is what I've been running for months. Do this at your own risk. For educational purposes only...
910R means a quarter-watt 910 ohm resistor. This circuit has not been approved by anyone.

well, I just got out the dremel drill and cut large sections out of the "walls" and top of my inner airbox, basically in the same places where others have drilled holes. I did it first on my old 9 box to test and structurally it seems fine. It still has all the attachment points/clips and is very secure. I'll do the final version on my 12 box and see how it works.

if you mean difference between the 9 and 12 inner airboxes...the 12 airbox has a cone molded into it to assist flow just above the velocity stack...the 9 does not...a 12 airbox on a 9 is an easy cheap gain of a couple hp

It may not hurt, increase intake air flow with the exhaust you have may match. Your limiting factor would then be your heads. I think.

I am going to do the heads and a 1050kit soon if someone emails me back, I dont know why people bore the 9 TB, seems like the 12 is bigger and would work. unless its cheaper to bore the 9? but in either case I'd need the FAST for the 12? or have it matched?

anyone order from iron machine before?
