Does any own or heard anything about these new pirelli tires that are on the CityX? I need new tires for my '03 9S. Any info would help. Thanks! |

Scorpion Sync's are standard equipment on the Ducati MultiStrada. we've only had one customer come back and put something different on, and he's cheap. I rode our CityX on a twisty road the other day at 11/10 and they didn't slip once. Consider me impressed. Danny 95 S2 02 V-Strom |

Just curious if there were any reviews or tests done with these tires. I just got a nail thru the rear and thought I'd jump up to the Pirelli's. |

Would think those tires would be an excellent choice in all sorts of bad pavement conditions! I had two sets of Michelin T-66's (the original radial big block dual purpose tires) on my KLR650 and could drag parts in the twisties. The lean angle on that combination was better than any other I have ever owned and they still worked well off road as well. Lots of the California canyon racers made the switch and were beating the rockets in the real tight sections. Sort of a Pre-SuperMoto set up. Actually, my first set was imported from England as they weren't available in the USA and used the T-65 bias ply front and the T-66 radial rear. Almost as good as the second set that were radial front and rear. The reason I bought them originally was they were quite the rage in Europe, were high mileage tires and handled extremely well in the rain and bad pavement conditions compared to other DP tires of the day. Little did I know I was going to be able to rip up the twisties. |

I read that the tires are not interchangable from XB to XBX. I was wondering why. (Message edited by torqer on August 10, 2004) |

I would think that since the wheels are the same size and all it wouldn't be a problem. What could be different to keep one set of tires off of one set of wheels? Hey Bryan, is the e-mail in your profile correct? |

In the '05 Buell P&A catalog, the new D208s fit all XBs except the XBSX and the Syncs fit only the XBSX. I'll scan and post Wednesday. It thought it may be a reference to the OEM fitment but, it is a P&A catalog... so why would it matter? It put a big question mark over my head. |

Possibly the tires are taller and the front fender hits it? -=shrugs=- Dunno... Glitch, yes, that e-mail's correct. |

Possibly the tires are taller and the front fender hits it? Sounds reasonable. |

so why would it matter? So Dunlop isn't left out in the cold since everyone now knows the Pirellis are better tire? Sounds like marketing crap to me. Buell website says this about the wheels Dark wheels enhance the attitude and appeal of your Buell. Fits '03-later XB models. Stock on '05 XB9SX models. So we know it ain't the wheels. |

Same shocks, same tire size...the profile can't be THAT different. I'm gonna go with Glitch on this one and says there's no technical reason you can't put the Pirellis on a different XB than the CityX. Sweet, that sounds good. I'm probably going to travel down on Tuesday so I can be at the Wednesday morning check-in. It's kind of a long drive for me. I'll have to leave early Saturday morning...my girl's not too keen on me taking off for any length of time after the last nine months! (Message edited by darthane on August 10, 2004) |

Yeah, she'll be back in school that week (first week back) and can't miss out. Which, incidentally, is why she wants me to make the trip again with her later, but (EDIT) CAN'T understand why I still want to go this time even without her. -=sigh=- Well, OK, she understands WHY, but isn't very happy about it. ...but I'm still going, and she'll get over it. Well, we'll just have to set something up for when she can make it down also. An understanding woman is a rare treasure, I found one also. |

The CityX ride report in the Sept RRW likes the bike and basically puts all the improvement in feel and grip to the Pirelli tires (comparing 12S and CityX on the cone course), even has that as the title of the article (not that this is news to us now but another voice). |

Now I am less worried about putting these Pirelli's on. The only thing I am worried about now is getting to the shop to put them on. I have a 150 mile jog on a plugged Dunlop. I ran over a nail 20 ft. from my house. The nail was sticking up about an inch from the road and busted right through my rear 207. I'll just have to take her slow. I only have about 2,500 miles on the rear. I used an external tire plug and some rubber glue for tire patches. Seems to be holding fine. Any suggestions to make my journey more enjoyable? |

Remove the wheels yourself and ferry them by car. |

Something very curious there. Getting a valid official answer as to why may be difficult. |

Gotta be a crock. That would seem to indicate that the D208s won't fit the '03s and '04s. Umm...I had a set of D208s on mine for the NE Tour. Sure seemed to fit fine to me, and they were great tires to boot. |

Same size tires, they will fit with no problem would be my answer. The only reason I can see why they list em like that is to keep the typical uninformed consumer from putting non stock tires on their particular bike. Of course I dont see why if the pirellis are great on the SX model why they wouldnt be just as great on the firebolt?? Maybe its part of an agreement with pirelli & dunlop? Maybe its to keep folks from mixing a pirelli rear with a dunlop front & vice versa? |

Maybe its part of an agreement with pirelli & dunlop? That's my guess. Plus they don't want to confuse us any more than we already are, after all how much could we know, we bought a Buell after all |
