when you are adjusting the throttle cable, do you need to adjust the idle also? My idle is under the one thousand mark and when I start the engine the light would go dim and after awhile it would go back to normal. I wanna know if the idler is causing this? I also adjusted the throttle cable because it was sticking before it feels like I have a cruise control on it for a moment. | ||

Jason, The idle should be set closer to 1100 RPMs. Have you lubricated your cables? Keith | ||

The idle should be between 1050 and 1150 RPM. The adjuster is between the airscoop and the cylinder on the left side of the bike. If you have added bar end weights, see if the grip is pinched agaist the weight, that can cause sticking. | ||

what would happen if it is below 1000 rpm would it do anything bad to the engine and yes the dealer did lubricate them and adjusted them because it was doing the same thing and after a few days it went back to the way it was. I haven't put on the bar end weights | ||

the bike will foul the plugs an cause backfiring on take off easier. Generally poor running. | ||

jab your bike will stick at or around 2000 rpm for a brief momento from a high rev...something about keeping the engine from starving of oil... | ||

Too high of idle and the revs float when rolling off throttle.... Too low of idle and engine dies at stops and blipping and possible accelerated engine wear. | ||

needs 1000 rpms for top end oiling, and its nicer on the bearings. |
