So I wake up this morning, throw on some clothes, brush my teeth and go out and pull my bike outta the garage and start it. I go back inside, shut the garage door and walk back out. There's this older guy (grey hair) standing just at the end of my driveway (about 15' away) and yells "You better tell your girlfriend to slow the I say "Pardon me sir? What are you talking about?" He says , they GUY in the $20K silver car...". I politely inform him that was my room mate and that I have a perfectly female girlfriend. He says he doesn't care, and that I'd better tell "that guy" that if he ever catches him driving down the road too fast he'll blow his head off. I tell him he shouldn't make threats. He says "I didn't, that's a promise punk!". Now I'm mad. I tell him he should get the heck outta my way because I'll be late for work and that if he has a problem with my room mate he needs to take it up with him. He says " mother!". Now I'm really mad. I told him he really needs to calm down and get the heck away from me. He threatens to blow MY head off and makes sure I know it's not a threat but a promise. Now I'm REALLY mad. I got in his face and told him he needs to just back away, go home, call the cops or whatever he wants to do and stop messing with me who has done NOTHING. WTF? |

Sounds like an exciting morning. Some people are just born ***holes. Some gestures are worth a thousand words... That's all I woulda done. Some people aren't worth wasting your breath. |

So I called the police (just because of the "promise" as opposed the a threat. They said go ahead and head home after work. If the guy is there, just walk in and call the police. I don't have a phone. I asked the officer what to do if the guy swings at me and he says "Well, you have to defend yourself right?" Why yes... I suppose I do . |

Well, I don't want to but I may have to. I guess my 300 submission matches in 2000-2003 may get put to good use yet. Unless of course if he has a pistol... He had the look of a war veteran. Not that it matters too much to me, if he decides to go that far I guess I won't be needing to worry about it for too long afterwords . |

sheesh . . .nuther of those grumpy, gray-haired old guy veterans . . . . . . . did Road_Thing come visiting you? seriously, the threat is likely minimal -- sounds like he needed a place to dump, and you were in the neighborhood . . . . . . . keep your head down, bro |

The loud ones are easy, it's the quiet ones that get ya. Talk to the roomie and ask what's up, arm lock or dislocated shoulder is optional. Not good to put someone else in harms way like that, nope not at all. Stay safe, and watch for slick spots in the alleyway for a few weeks. |

Well, thanks for all the encouragement . As far as talking to the roomie via an armlock or dislocated shoulder... He's a Blackbelt in Ju-do and Jiu-Jitsu (among other things). I did talk to him, and he can't remember anything of the sort that happened this morning... Go figure. I stopped by at lunch and did a little looking around for the guys house (thinking I would see his big black dog that he had with him) but nothing. I'll keep my eyes open though. I'll certainly keep my eyes open for slick spots . Thank you, I hadn't thought of that. |

thumbwrestling then. could have been a day in the past, almost anything that set the guy off, and he didn't sound like he wanted to get into specifics about the issue. life goes on - hopefully. |

Agreed Dyna (unless he doesn't already have the gun in his hand), I really need to replace my Benelli... |

I'm suggesting the Winchester SuperX2, recoil reduction & even faster cycle time than the Benelli. |

Personally, I would suggest riding/driving per the law in your 'hood. Obviously, somebody is upset and now you are. Just cool it and let it blow over. |

M1... I encountered a serious @sshole today too. I almost got taken out by an idiot in a cage 2night!!! I was coming around a corner on my way into downtown to get something to eat and some jack @ss just decided to move on into my lane. I got a fistful of ZTL and broke the back loose but kept the shiny side up. I gave him a Joe Rocket middle finger salute in his rear view and then got up beside him at the next light and said, "you almost killed me back there man"! His reply, "that's just how 5hits gonna be sometime man, fcuk it"! So I shook my head let him hear the V-twin and continued on with my heart about to jump outta my chest. A few blocks down the road as I was pulling into a parking spot, he pulled up behind me and said, "man I'm sorry, I did'nt mean to take my bad day out on you"! |

"Personally, I would suggest riding/driving per the law in your 'hood." I generally do... He was pissed at my room mate. |

Yeah, I got that part and the part where he wrongly accused your girl friend. Still is an interesting situation when you consider how one persons anger can get another's (in your case a third party) riled up. Is a classic and much has been written about it. Heck, it's the kind of stuff that allows Psychologists to live in luxury. Not to mention providing extra work for the Police, Courts and Jailers. LOL Good luck with the Mad Dog in the 'Hood. |
