I noticed in the last superbike race at mid Ohio from a close up of Rossi's left grip, clutch side, what appears to be a nurled plastic adjuster of some sort. Anybody know what its for? Evidently adjustment is handy enough to do while in race mode. Thanks, Bob

Clutch adjuster I believe though I have heard announcers refer to them as "brake" adjusters for taking up the slack as the pads wear.

Sorry guys, I watch a lot of racing. It might have been somewhere else but question is straightforward and from a close view of his hand on the clutch side grip. Wycked, I thought most of these race bikes used a kill switch on the shift linkage to be able to shift without the clutch. Brake pad adjuster probably for master cylinder takeup sounds reasonable.

Pretty sure that is a brake adjuster to help compensate for changing front brake behavior as the race progresses.

The clutch is required for downshifts.

Rossi races MotoGP; the most recent round run on Sunday took place at Donington Park in England.

I was just busting your balls Bob. The AMA races at Mid Ohio and the MotoGP races in England were televised one right after the other on Speedvision so it is easy to get them mixed together.

Except that Donington Park does not look anything like Mid-Ohio.

Did you see Baylis' excursion through the damp grass? Amazing he saved it. I bet he pulled in the clutch to help maintain rear tire traction.

Bayliss' save was cool Good to see the Duc's up near the front again too

Can someone tell me what the little "tape" on the riders nose is for? I noticed ages ago that Rossi etc wear while they're racing, but can't for the life of me figure out what it's for...

I read an article recently that said Nicky Hayden has a 3-position switch that allows him to alter his Honda's fuel mappings/power delivery on the fly depending on track conditions, tire wear etc...

there's no reason the Yamahas couldn't have something similar...maybe that's it

Blake, I haven't seen the British GP yet, i saw the AMA superbike at Mid-Ohio on the idiot box, i just know Donington from my previous visits there and from watching races on TV.

Apparently it doesn't look like Bayliss is going to last another season with Ducati, the ducks seem to be going backwards this year.

It's good to see Nicky Hayden getting into the groove now in MotoGP.

A lot of Honda's star riders dont seem to be very happy there lately. I read somewhere that Rossi said one of his reasons for leaving was that no matter how many wins he gave them Honda just treated him like another employee. Perhaps its just a cultural thing though and not the snobbery that it seems like. I.E. You never hear about any particular designer over there, just the Honda team. I imagine that could wear on the riders ego's after a while.
