Has anyone watched the Buell MTV style videos in the mania section of the Buell site? Personally I think the videos are pretty cool. Thats the 5hit they should show on television to induce sales. http://www.buell.com/en_us/mania/videos.asp

Heh...sweet. I definitely agree, there. I've never seen a Buell commerical on TV, but a 30 second clip, especially from the last one "Wide Awake in the American Dream", would make a great television spot. Definitely gets the attention, and that's what Buell needs...too many people still do the 'What's a Buell?" thing! |

I think they're pretty cool too. They sure would appeal to a younger crowd for Buell. They would be cool as 30 second TV spots. The "Do it Again" one might be nixed by the legal department though. Liability problems! Darthane, don't you ever watch American Chopper on Discovery Channel? They showed that Buell ad where the road spells "smile" over and over! It's not a bad ad but they just showed it a lot. I'm kind of surprised that Dyna likes the videos. I expected him to bitch and moan about them. |

Come on John, give me some credit. Already covered this, I like Buells...just not mine. And the videos are great. I definitely dont think they would ever show the stunt one on tv & am actually a little shocked that they had the balls to even put it on the net. But thats the kinda stuff they have to show the up & coming kids who are buying or will soon be buying a bike. Show em burnouts, wheelies, babes, etc & you will have a sale. |

I was just kidding. I was almost ready to bitch and moan about the videos myself. They're just appealing to young kids with the burnouts, wheelies and babes! But then I thought that's exactly what Buell needs to do. Besides, as a 42 year old kid I like the videos too! |

I don't watch much in the way of television, period, and I almost never catch the motorcycle shows. If I'm watching TV, it's generally a sitcom because I don't feel like thinking! I didn't mean to insinuate that there haven't been any, just that I've never seen one. Some of the magazine ads were priceless, though. |

It's been a LONG time since I have seen such a succinct and complete statement of a really complicated situation. Dyna, that is a statement of Genius! So there are now three categories of "Buell People" 1) People that Love Buells 2) People that Hate Buells 3) People that Love Buells, just not theirs. #3 probably covers Rocket, Cecil, Capt Pete, etc. Dyna, you are a genius! |

Dyna just needs to find a nice S1 or S2 ( won't mention an S3 since they're "mongoloid" ) and make us all happy.

I like all the videos, the third one the best. Totally kick dead on. Whoever created that clip done did good. The hyena attacking the zebra is very symbolic. |

they've gone Hollywood. from monkeyair.com : Mark Dektor falls into MonkeyAir's shredding, successful Hollywood TV commercial producer category. Hollywood is over the hill after all. Mark flies arcs, leis and anything else he can fit in his bags to test in some cool foreign location between shots and his marathon running training. Lucky Dog!!! His shaved head cuts seconds off of his marathon times and reduces necessary kite sizes. A quiver of arcs, Gaastra, Undergrounds and Jimmy Lewis kite and surf boards make for a very nice monster truck load of Mexico trip toys. Mark has a great eye behind the camera and donates a few picks when not on the water himself. I like the subliminal messages.

Court, I just found the video I have of the raw footage from the Taco Bell commercial last night! I lost count of how many times the cutie spits out the burrito (no snide comments here!). Can anyone convert the VHS tape to digital? How about the 'Grin Test' commercial that debuted with the XFL? I re-found that digital file earlier this week. 1313 |

And the best news is that this year, the product brochure, instead of a boring glossy pamphlet is a CD with all the videos on it! Very cool! It has segments of Erik(classic Erik)talking about the bikes, the videos and more. So, instead of prospective Buell buyers looking it over once and then throwing it a pile of bike brochures, they will have it on their computer to enjoy(and keep that seed growing)over and over til they just can't stand not having a new Buell. They will be showing their friends and infecting them too. Good stuff Buell marketing people! I hear(from a friend) that it's coming out on a showroom video so I can play it all day long in the Buell area! I'm even going to show it in the HD area to get the HD riders thinking too! I have already made a list of everyone in the dealership they have to check off on after they watch it(it helps a lot to show all employees what's going on) and hope everyone will have seen it by the time I get back from vacation and I will go around to all of them to see what they think of it. I'm working on getting set up so I can show it at the sportbike day to all the other brand riders that will be there, Great tool to help me spread what Buell is all about! Ride to the edge! Dave |

3) People that Love Buells, just not theirs. #3 probably covers Rocket Bill, I bought my S1W new in August 98, and I still own her. She's a fantastic bike. Despite the massive amount of down time I've experienced with her, I'm over the worst and looking forward to a future with her. This year has been a big step in the right direction. My S&S crank is rebuilt with new S&S rods. I have new cases. As I type my damaged and irreplaceable AAC cylinder is being repaired at Stan Stevens Tuning in Kent, England. all i'm needing to finish the motor rebuild is a forged Wiseco piston. Meanwhile, I've bought a new CF front hugger to replace the one I damaged in France years ago. I've bought a Forcewinder too, to replace the Race Kit filter I went off the likes of years ago. I've bought those Joker Machine turn signals and that custom diode tail light that was on Ebay recently. All together I'm fired up and looking forward to a new and improved S1W when she's finished. I'm in no rush though. Down time has taught me patience in this matter. The British weather is pretty dismal thus far this year, and in any case I'm still enjoying ripping the wheels off of my 916. That is some fantastic riding machine. I guess when the Buell is sorted, i'll be spoilt for choice. Do I hate Buells? Not at all. The XB12S is lovely. That said, I wouldn't have one. Not even a 12S could replicate or better those heady days of the late 90's when the S1 Lightnings really where in a class of their own. I'm glad I own one. Rocket |

Great post Rocket! I could not agree with you more, those S1's really were a stunning work of genius, and yours (when you get it done) will be one of the best. It'll to be interesting to see how it plays out when both your S1 and your 916 are runners. The 916 is a better bike in every measurable tangible regard, the S1 just has some magic, character, whatever. I don't know what to call it... but I know it's there. I would be interested in hearing when and why you ride the S1 when you are done and have both bikes to choose from... as much for insight into myself as anything else. |

Thanks Jerry. My absence was due to the great computer crash of 04 - LOL, but I have been somewhat busy of late. Well Bill, I was holding out on you a little last Friday. Last Wednesday I booked a test ride on some exotica. Rocket, Great story! I moved it and related discussion to the Tale Section link highlighted above. Thanks, Blake |
