It's actually more of a RE-newed respect for the ride you made coming to Milwaukee for the 20th last year. I took a 370 mile ride last Saturday with my wife (some highway, lots of small towns, 11 hours long) and I was feeling it on Sunday. It's the longest single day of riding we have done yet. Last summer we did 275 and that was pretty tiring. Not to mention my face is still healing from the sun/windburn. | ||

Thursday Penny and I are going to do about 800 miles,but I'll be on my FLHT and she will be on her FXR2 so it doesn't count. Longest day on a XB so far is about 570. Dave | ||

Dave, I did that ride that my dad was talking to you about. It was pretty nice. Great scenery and some nice places to stop on the way. Also got to drive by a nuclear power plant.... I think my bike glows now! | ||

I was thinking about doing the Newfoundland trip but I ended up going to New York City (flew there) for a week in May and couldn't swing Newfoundland this summer because of time, money, etc. I was looking at the mileage from Minneapolis earlier today. Almost 3,000 miles! Newfie probably did at least 2,600 miles each way last year. That is a lot of miles on an S1! Don't forget about James (Jprovo). He rode from California and back for the 20th on a Blast! | ||

I did 800 plus on my way home from Utah and RANE ride with Alex the other day,most of it through HOT SCal desert.Can't say no sweat,but felt good,less than 11 hours. | ||

Glad to see you made it back ok with that rear wheel FMJ. Wished you could have rode through the park it was nice. You'd of LOVED how warm Furnace Creek was coming back! My single day high only the 525 RANE did the day before FMJ had to go home. Met two Beemer riders on the way home who had been out 3 weeks and planed on 3 more. They were putting down 500+ a day. Kinda put a different perspective on things. | ||

I didn't have the heat thing, it was just the opposite. Mid 60's when I left and we road along the coast of Lake Michigan for a chilly wind. I was wishing I hadn't left my gloves at home. | ||

Daves' got me licked by a bit. My highest mileage day on the Firebolt was about 550. Surprisingly comfy, too, and not sore at all the next day. What makes Newfie's ride even MORE remarkable - he did it on an *S1*...a bike that one BadWebber has affectionately dubbed 'Thong'. | ||

my longest day on the xb was 630 miles, my normal day was about 275 to 300 miles of pure bliss in the mountains. and yes I always slept well afterwards | ||

Noooooo Problem Guys, I plan on doing it again next summer, just don't have a destination in mind yet. Actually my first day was spent travelling across the island which is about 500miles. The second day I went from North Sydney, NS to Kingston, ON which was a little over 1000mi. The next day I went to Detroit to meet up with Spidey and the boys. From there we rolled into Racine the next day. All told 4 days and a lot of miles. A lot of people asked if the bike was hard on the wrists for long periods and my response is that if you keep it up around 110-120kph the wind hitting your upper body has just enough balance to keep you upright with no effort. Finding that spot on the highway was all I needed. My arse certainly thanked me when I got off for a day The Corbin Seat made a big difference despite the fact there is no padding in it, but much better than the stock seat. I know why the other badwebber named the bike "The Thong". The Corbin was on the bike when I picked it up and the retailer sent the other one in the mail, I put it on for about 15 minutes and promptly replaced it with the Corbin. The stock seat has sat in the rafters of the garage ever since along with the, original tank, rear fender, belt pulleys and air box. By the way does anyone have a stock S1 fender kicking around, mine has a very large crack in it and I would like to have an original? I am amazed a James for riding a Blast an equal distance from California to Racine, I regularly ride a Blast and find it even more comfortable than the S1 but its just lacking in power. The Blast is one very surprising bike even in the twisties. My hat goes off to him for that one. Apart from Court and his travels on the S2, Alex Prior is logging a lot of miles on his bike, I can't wait to see him get off the boat this weekend when he hits the island. I must remember to bring my digital camera and if I have room the laptop so I can post the pics as we go along. | ||

"...so I can post the pics as we go along. " Don't you know it's not safe to post and ride? Save the posting for when you're parked. But it would be interesting if someone were to post a pic of you riding the S1 with the laptop open and a little mini sat dish pointing skyward.  | ||

Hmmmmmmmmm, Mike I will try that, The S1 has a very flat top on the tank, piece of velcro and away I go. Would make a cool pic though. I have a friend of mine talked into chasing us in the convertible to carry the gear and other stuff. Rough job but someone got to do it!!!! Bill | ||

Hey Newfie Buell, have you looked into shipping your bike across the country rather than drive it both ways. If you go to www.freedom-travel.com you will find a link to a shipper in Canada that doesn't want an arm or a leg to get it done. I have been quoted $730.00 Canadian taxes in to ship my M2 from Regina to Halifax. Saves me about 6 or 7 days of holiday time just getting there. I am going to go next summer as I already blew my holidays this year in Beautiful British Columbia. | ||

A good cell phone will supply you with an adequate internet connection for your laptop with the correct USB cable...looks at his setup Speeds a tad low, but hey, for regular posting its all good, not sure about uploading images though...My longest day was 965 roundtrip from Phoenix to San Diego to LA back to San Diego and back to PHoenix in a 24 hour period. And yes I was hurtin real bad after wards, the rod in my leg let me know it was REAL pissed off at me. |
