I know the S2 is not the best raw numbers bike, I just hate to see days of silence on this thread so thought I'd try to get a subject going. I agree with you Court. The S2 is the most fun I have had on a bike, motor or otherwise. I was thrilled when I was able to make it my first cycle. | ||

My 95 S2 has a best measured run of 152.438 at Bonneville. We are hoping for better this year. It does appear totally stock. Paul | ||

FMJ, The only time of year we can get the whole group together is for speedweek in August. The 1350 P-PP record is our goal this year. Last year we were primarily running the XR's. This year we are only running at gas records, 750 m-pg & mps-pg and 1350 p-pp. We are trying to push the 750 records past 140mph and the 1350 to 160mph. Team name will Davey Camlin #27 again this year. Next year we expect to be just running the Buell as the XR's will be needing some very expensive rebuilding. Kirk Donny and me are thinking of running it in all three events in 2005. Best of Luck to you this year. Paul | ||

If anyone is looking for a nice S2T worthy of serious engine modifications, mine can be had for the reasonable sum of only $5000. 15K and a bit more on the odo. SE heads and cams. Buell S&S headers with the race muffler. Mikuni 42 keeps it snappy. I'm relocating to a different part of the planet and need to get shy of some extra 'stuff'. The S2 has been a sweet ride and I hate to let her go...but I can only ride one bike at a time and the S2 is seeing more garage concrete and drywall than asphalt and trees. Help her find a good home with lots of nice tools and loving care... | ||

Well, according to a local insurance company the S2 is a SportBike subject to a higher rate. That didn't last long. | ||

Ironically, there is a lot of emotion attached to the S2's. They seem to invoke an emotional response to folks who see them and to folks who own and ride them like myself. I get the distinct feeling that there are some others in Buelldom who see an S2 as a parts cache and opportunity to make $$ by parting them out...all those top shelf pieces to the highest bidder stuff. Oh well, maybe in the future most of the S2's will have been parted and disassembled making it risky to ride an original for fear of wrecking or breaking some bit of unobtainium. Or, making the surviving specimens a novelty for bike shows and collectors... | ||

Kevyn, I will agree, there is emotion attached to the S2s. A Parkway Blue and Pearl White S2 were the first Buells I laid eyes on, and I didn't know what they were at the time (I think I was 15 or 16 then). I snapped a picture, and then when I got into this whole Buell thing, dug up those pics, and remembered just what I had seen. The next Buell I own will be an S2, Parkway Blue, as I think it is one of the most gorgeous bikes made. I see the emotion in the guys here who ride them, from Ferris and the Blurr to FMJ and his salt toys. I think it's a shame when guys part out Buells, I can clearly remember the first production S1 being parted out on eBay, but people have to make money I suppose. I hope in the future those bikes are around as novelties, daily riders, and whatever else the Buell faithful choose to do with their bikes. And Kevyn, I want that S2, just need to do some crazy scheming to figure out how to swing that... Not a big possibility, but it's exactly what I want. If it's still around in Jan when I graduate, consider it sold. Alex | ||

My S2 is my do everything bike. Will never part it out. I'm hoping that I still have it when a friend's kid turns 18. Would love to pass it on. (He turned 2 this year.)  | ||

A shame to part one out, but sometimes a necessary evil one is cornered to do. Doughnut, Let's just hope that in 16 years the parts required to keep it road worthy are still available (engine mount, isolators, ....). | ||

i assume you bought your S2 used and not from the original owner (sorry if you've mentioned this already). the original owner is who the Signature Series package would have been mailed to - does the previous owner know the original owner? maybe your local dealer can help? failing that, perhaps a call to BMC would help unearth the name and contact # of the original owner? good luck. I got the bike used from a dealer, I believe the previous owner is the original. Will have to try and track them down. | ||

I have had good luck with using red lock-tite... Place a liberal amount on the ball end and set it where you want it for good... | ||

Smoke,I took a small punch and peened the area on the ball where it was going to center and that worked well. | ||

I just had a run in with the droppy miror thing on my S2. Mine had a cracked mounting base so it flopped a bit in the breeze. I had DaveS order me a new mirror. When I got the mirror and got it mounted the outer "ball joint" was so loose it was impossible to keep adjusted. The old mirror had no such problem. The ball and socket was properly "aged" with just the right amount of oxidation to keep it from moving. I wound up swapping the mounting brackets and using the old mirror and the new boot. Maybe if I leave the new mirror in the rain a few times and let it properly age I'll have another spare! | ||

I have two S2's, and would but more if finances permitted. some folks call me a:  But I know that there are others that own more Buells than I. I bought my first S2 new in 1995 for $10,995, and would gladly pay the same amount for another S2 with 0 miles. That first S2 gave me 150,000 miles of pure excitement, my second S2 is just as much fun. These bikes seem to have a soul of their own. The handling is phenomenal, the braking is exceptional. The blonde on the red S2 above knows that S2 is the only thing keeping her from becoming #1 in my life. I live to ride, and make many sacrifices to ride whenever I can. Nothing is more enjoyable to me, than carving some twisties on my Buells. Emotion attached to the S2's? I think so!!! Tripods forever!!! Whoretimus | ||

At one time, there was a fellow that was building new left side plates for the S-2, that would put the sidestand at the appropriate lean angle...who is doing this? Thanks REX | ||

I have a source for some custom made sideplates that use a lightning kickstand and give S2s a normal lean angle. Price was high but maybe if we get enough interest I can get it down some. So who would be in if I could get a new left side plate for $200? You would need to provide kickstand and spring. And who would do another $100 for right sides to match? | ||

for $200 the left side should be made to match the right. once you set up the cnc program, the work is basically done. |
