yeah, this is just what my insurance company needs, as they are poised to hammer my policy anyway after they ponied up for new wheels for the VFR after i bent both of them during the Four-Play ride last year - the fact that this was my first m/c-related insurance claim in 34 years of riding mattered not a whit as the rep from the company said it's "quite possible" my rates may go up (read as HUGE) when the policy renews. |

Ferris - there's a lesson here...never pass a CHP over a double yellow! |

Ferris, Sorry to hear about the luck... Hope that everything works out. I've found that insurance companies can help and hurt... I was hit by a tow truck in Southfield MI two years ago, 'no fault' by Michigan's laws, no increase in insurance prices with my $2500 repair bill for the bike, and the $3000 bill for me, an ambulance ride and the associated crap. PA repeals the helmet law, and my insurance doubles. Go figure... Best of luck. Alex |

Dino, it was an unfortunate set of circumstances (yeah, aren't they all?) that led to my ticket. in retrospect there are several things i would have done differently. i still woulda passed over this particular double yellow, with it's nearly mile-long view of the upcoming road. but, i woulda made it a bit more of a sporting event for the very professional but duly dour CHP officer to actually pin the infraction on ME, as there were sportbikes EVERYWHERE on Hwy 1 that morning just itching to get their very own souvenir of the weekend. i propose that each year, on the Monday following Laguna Seca, Highway 1 from Carmel Valley Road in Monterey south to Hearst Castle and Cambria be open to sportbikes ONLY. and then that piece of double yellow line can kiss my double yellow mother !
