In the last two days, I have been reminded how unique our bikes really are. In two short rides around Carlsbad: A guy in a FEDEX truck followed me into the gas station so he could find out all about my bike. He was joined by another guy filling up who had tons of questions. A guy in an M convertible and his two boys in back> They wanted their Dad to race the BIKE! The guy thought my bike was "bitchin!" The local mechanic spent 20 minutes going over every inch of the bike, just loving the technology. Two very pretty young girls stopped at a light wanted to know if they could have the bike! This stuff NEVER happened on the Ninja!

Yeah, about half the time that I stop to get gas I get tons of questions about the XB. Also a few times at stop lights. Even happened a few times with the Blast. |

"Gee those Italians know how to make nice bikes." I laughed my ar5e off after showing him the stick on the plastics. I didn't have the heart to tell him how close to the truth he was though. |

When I bought my 12r i resigned to the fact that I would get no respect from the "crotch rocket guys" cause it's Harley powered, and of course no respect from the Harley guys cause it aint! But I too have been amazed by the response I get from everyone! I've had a kid hang out of a pick up truck givin me a big thumbs up, I had several Harley guys come up and ask me if it is fun to ride, is it fast, etc. Last week I was on Skyline Drive in Va. stopped to take a picture and this guy comes up, gets out of his car and proceeds to tell me how much he loves my bike. He currently has a honda and said he wants to get a Buell. He even started to point out the features on my bike to me as if he were a salesman! Yeah, these Buells are the $#!+, and I am lovin it |

I have had some of the same stuff happen to me. Had a guy on an older BMW chase me down to find out what it was. Guys on Harleys want to know what it is. Or, "Hey is that a Buell? Man, that thing sounds nice." Most of the guys on rice rockets around here want to try to race. I have to explain to them what torque is. I don't mind. I, too, actually enjoy educating most of the uninformed (and sometimes mindless) masses. Heck, most people just want to know what it is. Gotta love it. Rich

Jason... Darthane may not have given the most supportive and sensitive response, but he at least added some value Darthane, You might want to add a smiley to statements like that, just to make it clear to everyone that it is a friendly joke and not a personal slam. Everybody move along, nothing to see here... |

You can. It's called paint. Thank you, Jason, for the insight. Most helpful. My post was technically correct, and was, as Reep noted, a friendly joke. How kind of you to notice. |

It's not factory - Buell doesn't make that color, which means they either painted it (most likely) or had new pieces made (extremely expensive). By the way, that particular bike has the original slip-on muffler with a race ECM and air cleaner. No mention of the bodywork in the description, although it has "+200ccs worth of power and torque" over the XB9R. |

Not a factory job. What the factory does is on the website. Some dealers will have the bikes painted though.

its cool i just thought that japan got that as a color option or somthing from the factory. I thought that would have been kinda cool since my car is a silver firebird and my bike is a firebolt they would go to geather good, but i got different plans for my bike so im not gonna paint it silver. |

In the same vein as the first post... I went to a charity ride (ridefordiane.com) with my three-day old XB12R. I was immediately swamped by Harley guys who knew more about it than me! It is a unique machine, tame as a Volvo or evil as a Viper with just a twist. And if anyone asked me which bike was mine, I just said "the red one" and they easily spotted it over the sea of black and chrome. Any shred of "buyer's remorse" is gone. |

The thing that gets me sometimes when I tell people there is a Harley V-Twin for the motor, they look at it closer, exclaim wow...it is! Then they ask me if I built it myself. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! |
