We tried to figure out how to get the Buell to 160mph, but what about this. What mods would get the Buell the FASTEST to 100mph? Is the Buell the fastest stock bike off the line? Pipe up! (No Pun intended) Semper Fi Tatsu

I have a 5 inch stroker 104 incher 1701 cc`s soft tail street bike and its can of on the heavy side...BUt i still eat 10 to 10.5 sec. lay down drag jap bikes with wheelie bars the whole bit at least a third to have way down the quarter mile strip.. BUt then they leave me sitting like i`m not moving ...:-) And the 12 I have seems just as fast IF not faster... |

2.97 for the FJR MCN once a year publishes a list of all the bikes they've tested incl 0-60/0-100. A subscription isn't that much and they're entirely subsciber-oriented. no ads. http://www.mcnews.com |

Yea I was a little suprised by the 748 Duc as well. Didnt think it would be nearly that good. And Hogs, the 0-60 time differences pretty much mirror the 0-100 times only a bit faster obviously. The XB's arent drag bikes & simply dont have enough hp to compete in that arena. As well as the short wheelbase hinders any attempts at a decent launch. |

So umm basically we got a really good stunt and turn bike? I can go for that... but I'm going to try to work the ponies up a little more. Tatsu

My riding partner has a superbusa with a 3T over rear sprocket, I wonder what it would do? |

Depends on the year busa..99's were the fastest. But I would say with a 3 over & a good launch that a sub 5 second run is easily doable. I just went down 1 tooth on my front sprocket & it made a huge difference on the launches. |

Yea those 0-100 numbers put up were just the kind of thing I was talking about in another thread, how my 12R couldn't hang with RC's etc, and people told me to quit whining like a girl. That response is still irritating me. It's seems natural to want more power and acceleration. The one, and only, place we can feel good about our acceleration is in top gear roll-on, 60-100. The 12's beat most everything out there for that I think, and that's not just spec sheet racing, but I actually surprised my buddy when we were loping along some back road at 70 or so and came up on the back of a Caddy. I was in front, and after 20 seconds or so whacked it open. The friend on the RC followed suit, and was surprised to find he needed to downshift to keep up. I hold that memory special as it is the ONLY one this bike will allow me when it comes to acceleration/drags. Beat by a V-Rod. That's disappointing. If it's a street fight you'd think we'd be quicker than the fat guy. |

Mr_cuell haha You make a GooD point there I think we will stand with alot more of them than you might think IF say were going 20 ,30 miles an hour and side by side and both hit it hard equall riders etc.etc. We will at least ....stay side by side and even perhaps move forward than alot of jap bikes etc. as we don`t have to worry about the hard launch and of course thats where the Torque comes into PLAY..Up to say 75 or 85 or so and thats the fun around short blasts.. |

Most of my playing around is on secondardly roads, highways, twisties and NOT the open HIGhways have no interest in going 300 miles an hour :-)or even 140 plus miles an hour on the Street...But 70,80,90,100 miles an hour is quick fun and I`m sure we can hang in there with the BEST of em ..what ya think??? :-) |

IF ... one wants to play at 130,140,150 and on and on on the OPEN STATE /Highways then REally why did you BUY a BUEll...Thats where all the High Horespower jap ,etc, bikes come into play am I wrong here or not??? |

Hogs, the litre bikes basically really come alive from about 35mph on up. They have some big fat torque, its just higher up in the rev range. If you want to race a litre bike, you had better be on another litre bike. |

Dyna I think there something wrong there pal on those times I know i can walk away from jap bikes of those around the speeds I have mentioned I got to run now will continue later on this Perhaps if they down shift 2 or 3 gears I really dont know BUT Torque will pull us faster than any horsepower and the lower speeds ...Anyways gotta run later.. |

Hogs, those are all top gear times. If those bikes downshifted it would be even faster. And dont believe all the hype about Buells having the torque advantage. yes they do have decent torque but the litre bikes are just as high if not higher in torque. Just happens higher in the rpm range. |

Dyna... Post your source, please. Just curious. Motorcyclist? To have the best "performance numbers" means nothing to me... over the years, I've come to enjoy my own kind of riding and I don't need to conform with or beat anyone else. I'm just curious about the source. Motorcyclist, for some reason, has been known to be a little...er... "anti-Buell" in the past. If from a more credible source (in my mind), I'll just shrug my shoulders and say "so what.. I don't really care." And please be extra careful while you're cruising along at hyper speed! We enjoy your posting here! Steve edited by smadd on July 20, 2004 |
