Newfie... I *almost* bought one of those things used, but the timing was not quite right, and it had a loud clangy sound with each pop of the piston. For future reference, are they all like that? With each pistion "thump" was there an almost metallic rap? I was worried about the crank bearing, but if the timing was right I probably would have bought it anyway, as it would be a pretty easy engine to rebuild (provided parts still exist). I think the one I saw was like a 86 or something. |

Congrad's Newfie!!! Almost bought one this spring but the one I looked at had a shot rear shock and almost no miles on it. Hmmm...Think somebody disconnected the ODO and ran it at the local MX tracks, eh? Still no KLR, but it will be more fun off road. |

Newfie that is totally Coofie! M1, need a set of Stainless hardware? I have a set for the KLR650 that is excess to my current needs. Send me your address if it'll work and it's on the way. Court |

Court, I'll let you know... This is the KL600R from one year before they went to the legendary KLR650. It seems more like the first year KLX 650. I'll find out though. Lemme know what you want in trade. My father makes some absolutely excellent smoked salmon fresh from the Kenai River... He generally either has or can get Moose meat as well. By hardware do you mean engine guards and that sort of thing? If anything I am quite sure I could adapt them. |

I actually owned a KLR650 before the Buell and I always referred to it as the "Urban Assault Vehicle" I hated to sell that one but at the time I was not quite set in my career and could only have one bike. I was actually looking at a KLR650 only hours before I found that one. I like the Suzuki better as it is lighter, it has no electric start or water cooling. Oh well try this one for a while.....I am having a hoot on it.

M1: Did I understand that right? You're from Arizona and you're offering to trade Moose meat for motorcycle parts to a guy in NYC? Wow, the world really is a very small (or weird) place. I suppose the real issue is whether or not Court took you up on the offer. |

I'll need to find out what hardware he has and whether or not it'll fit my bike. |
