Had a run in with a curb, to avoid a car today... Lost a turn signal and busted a piece of the shift linkage. Fortunately I put the bike down in the grass, so no scratches on the bike or me. I need to replace the piece that the shift linkage bolts to...the shift lever and linkage parts are fine, just the part that the linkage bolts to. Does anyone have a source to get this, or should i just call the dealer? It is a xb12r. |

It is the piece that goes over the shaft. I had to order from the dealer, $40 and a five day wait. |

Sounds like it. It will be moderately annoying, but not a disaster. Hard to imagine bending that shaft without hurting the primary cover as well, but I suppose it is possible. Your local dealer can get all the parts. You will have to pull the primry cover, and the clutch, primary chain, and alternator rotor as a unit. There is a little seal in the primary cover for that shaft that should be replaced as well. |

The shaft looks fine, the bolt hole, where the linkage bolts to broke off. I am glad it is not the shaft...then i would have had to take it to the dealer, i am not too familiar with working on bikes...yet. |

Call around, you may find one in stock locally. Also, be advised that someone in the parts packaging system mixed up some labels and my dealer tried to sell me a Blast shift lever for my 2000 X1 Lightning today. Right number, wrong part! Can't imagine this happening often but be on the lookout anyway. |
