Well, it's about time you start to post here! Jeez! Great name by the way! I've got a smaller sleeping bag you can use if you want to. Then you'd have plenty of room for a tent, as long as it's not a 10 person one. Dave |

Hey Dave: I am on my cross country trip to CO and back. I ran in to some mechanical difficulties in S Dak and have been limping along since then. The Rockies were a challenge! I locked up in 5th gear in the Black Hills and smoked the clutch trying to avoid the RV's and tourist traffic. Spoke with a HD mechanic @Deluxe HD in Casper WY and he thinks I have a bent or broken shift fork, but the clutch was a result of this problem. We will be arriving in WI on Thursday evening. Can you set up a time with service so I can get it fixed? I could drop the bike off on the 16th for repairs if that works for their schedule. `The clutch is still functional but weak. Will my extended warranty cover such a repair? We will stay over and catch the cycle museum in Anamosa tomorrow. Possibly day trip for a BRAG ride someday? You are the Iowa guy, so you might know if that is worth it or not. Also, I am taking a lot of crap from my buddy who rides a BMW. He seems to think Buells are notorious for breakdowns and I am just proving him right. However, he dropped a tranny drain plug early in the trip. It would have been a problem if a spare spark plug wasn't handy! Plug the hole with what is available he says! Let me know if I can get it in on Friday. Thanks, Tom |

NextCorner...I normally tour with just a tank and tail bag (reference my profile pic), however, for camping trips I substitute an airlines quality zippered duffel bag for the tail bag. It holds my tent, ground cloth, sleeping bag, self inflating mattress, two military canteens with military canteen stoves and trioxane fuel, extra clothing, canned/dry goods, a flask and a whole lot more. It bungees to the bike nicely and only measures about 25" Long by 14" High/Wide. Nice low center of gravity so it doesn't effect the handling either. You really won't even know it is there. Aerostich has a similar bag in their online catalog if you are looking for a visual. The big difference is mine is an airlines carry on bag that is relatively water proof that you can get for $20 to $30 at the outlet malls and theirs is and expensive proposition. Pack your stuff in heavy duty plastic bags inside the duffel and you are good to go in the worst down pour. Hope this gives you some ideas. |

Is anyone interested it riding to the WIR bike rally this weekend? It is on Sunday and starts at 10am...I don't really have any details but if you are interested send me an email at the link below. Then also is anyone interested in riding down to Milwaukee for the rally down there? I am from that area and am heading down for the weekend. My whole family rides so we are going to leaving from Racine for the 3 days that i can make it. If you need sleeping arrangements my parents have a big back yard if you want to camp or I am sure people could sleep in the basement, which is all fixed up. Just thought I would throw these events out there. falbo@sbcglobal.net

Anthony...Thanks for the info. Looks like a great facility with lots of events. I can't seem to find a website with info on the rally. Is it a Harley or a Sport Bike event? Can you direct me to an online source of info for it? |
