My xb9r has 2200 miles on it and some of the cord is showing through the back tire, the rest of the tire lokks perfectly fine. Is this normal, 2200 miles and I need a new tire. Appletons wants 180.00 dollars for a tire, any suggestions on tire brand. Thanks for any info. | ||

Mileage on the stock Dunlop is pretty abysmal. I got about 8K on a Bridgestone BT010. I now have a BT020 to see if I can increase that mileage. | ||

I just ordered the Metzelers from KneeDraggers. Haven't tried them yet, but everyone that has seems to love them. The Pirelli Diablos are the same tire with a different tread. I've also used D208s and was quite happy with them. | ||

I love the Sportecs. Once you try them you won't believe that just a set of tires would help things out sooo much. The standing up under braking...gone. Corners get even tighter, hard to believe but true. Where I ride the you can go from one turn right into another and another. I thought the Dunlops were good (and they are) but the Metzler is a much more superior tire. The Dunlops now seem to slow the bike down when going from a tight right to a tight left. The Sportecs can scare you they turn in that much faster. The only complaint I've heard about them was that the rear tire looks narrower. It is, and you won't care. Well I don't. They rule the twisties! | ||

I got 2300 out the back and an equally abismal 2600 out the front, mind you I got on well with the 207's so i have stuck more on. They come in at £160 fitted over here, I think thats about $300 ish, everything costs more in Rip-off Britain.  | ||

I'm running M1 Sportecs right now. I love these tires, but I'll probably look for something that offers more mileage next time. Unfortunately most of my riding lately has been commuting to work and back. 45+ highway miles per day in 95 degree heat is really hard on soft tires. Anyone tried the new Z6 roadtecs or the Avon AV45/46 Azaro STs? | ||

Fullpower from Alaska likes the Z6's. I got my sportecs (LOVE them BTW) from discount motorcycle tire for 216 after shipping. I got about 2500 out of my rear 207. | ||

I just got put a Z6 on the rear. It sticks as good or better than the 207. 1,400 hard miles so far and no signs of wear. The 207 was toast after 2,700 (500 of that were super-easy break in miles) | ||

I took my Z6 through a hidden puddle deep enough that the sheet water came over the top of the handlebars, up my chest, and up through the chin guard of my helmet. I was totally blind, my feet were ripped off the pegs and pinned to the bike while I hung on for dear life and pointed to where I thought the road was, and the bike quickly stalled completely from all the water being ingested (fortunately no bent valves). The tires stuck like glue through the whole thing, to my total amazement. No hydroplaning at all. | ||

I just put the M1's on my 12S and I really like them.They turn in fast.You point the bike where you wanna go......you are there.Yes they are a little narrower but thats because the tires crown is so much rounder then the Dunlops. | ||

I put the m1 sporttechs on my 9s and the handling differance is amazing. Turn in is so much better, flickability is better, everything is better. Plus the wear seems to be much better so far. | ||

Got the Pirelli Corsas and have got almost 9K on them. Not ready for the tire heap yet. I think I paid around $150 for both, but it was their buy the rear and get the front free. Wish I had another set for that price! | ||

I just installed the Dunlops 220. Very nice tire but I have no idea how long they will last. They are a Sport Touring tire and I am hoping for 8K miles. Got 5 K out of the 207s. | ||

Humphhh... My 12S had the rear 207 replaced at just over 2200K's (not miles). The bike now has just shy of 5,500K's on it and the 208 is a couple of weeks away from replacement. Essentially getting 3,000k's out of a rear kind of disgusts me, it's a plain 208, not the 208 GP. Still on the original factory 207 front, although the edges of it are well and truely scrubbed out. My local tyre guy loves Michelin tyres. I was checking out a pair of Pilot Power's... Very nice looking tyre. They are silica based and have a 0% rubber content... Should mean better traction and wear... I think that'll be what I'll fit up. Anyone got any feed back on these?? I mean if there is a set in a tyre shop in North Queensland Aus. surely you guys in the states will have them available... | ||

Agree with everything Glitch said , except I have just changed my tires to Diablos , even after 100 miles the difference is enormous, the bike feels even more planted and composed than before. My rear 207 was down to the cord at 2500 miles and I have never done a burnout in my life, the Pirelli's came with over 6mm of tread straight off the rack . Metzeler Z6 is a damn fine touring tire. double the life of the stocker D207, handle better, and seem to grip as well. | ||

Love my Diablos.  Other than the "FREE" front tire fiasco I went through a few months back, I've got nothing but good things to say about the Pirellis. They seem to be the best bang for the buck too! | ||

Dunlop ST 220's are also worth looking at if you'd like to get more mileage. I have 'em, I love 'em. | ||

I love my Diablos as well and will second everything that Buelluk said. The bike feels super quick through the twisties but very planted. I won't hesitate to recommend these tires to anybody. | ||

Keep in mind that the M1's and the Diablo's are the same carcass.Just different thread pattern. |
