Will: That looks awesome! Thanks for taking the photos. Don't get in trouble at work! we need to give you our money for some of your D.L. craftsmanship. I'll bring my bike by for the installation. |

Along4theride: Because the loan amount on the Blast in not so great... they may open another account for you. The only way to know for sure is to check. How much do you owe? If you want to share that info. Do you have enough dough for a down payment on a new bike? If so, I can get you approved for a "Zero down" loan and you can use the down payment money as a payoff for the Blast. (The amount between trade value and payoff.) That could work for you. I know you'd like to sell you bike for at least payoff today and use the down payment money towards a new purchase...but, this may work more quickly for you. |

On the other hand... A big bore kit, chain drive, some carb and exhaust wok, rear sets, clip-ons and some kneepucks might work well also. I know. I know... Then you'll just have a faster slow bike. An idea though. |

Being that I am in finance and know how things work I just can't 'throw away' the $$$ and do the trade in thing. I think I'd rather look at selling the blast outright. There are a couple people in the HOG group that said they would be interested, it's just a matter of pining them down. That way I would only maybe lose $500 versus more if I were to go with a trade-in scenario. I dunno what I want to do yet. I really don't want to break my deal with myself and switch out prior to Sept but if I can sell it before then, then I will. Maybe I'll just spend the next couple weekends on the river now that my shoulder is better. I need to do some rehab on it anyways. That'll keep me out of the mountains on my bike but still in the Mountains. My kayaks have been looking pretty pitiful sitting in the backyard not getting used. |

Oh I owe $4200 on it. I have seen quite a few selling used for between $3500 and $4000, but with low miles. I have just about 4000 on mine and will have more by the time it's all said and done. |

B_S: Is that a plaster mold? Then you lay the carbon on top? Vacuum the carbon/mold in a bag? Cure, then cook? |

Glitch.... PLaster mold...I poured the original Layup on plaster, inner and outer polyvynl acetate bag (PVA). Resin goes through an endothermic reaction and cure in about 30 mins. No cooking afterward. Done. 80/20 Acrylic resin 80% rigid 20% flexible. Same stuff they use in the nail salons only thicker. |

So all I need is Plaster, a PVA bag, and prepreg carbon fiber, and a way to pull a vacuum? Can I get the PVA bags and prepreg locally? Thanks for the info by the way. Do you think you'll have some time to have a sit down with me in the near future? I'd really like to get my mind around this process. edited by glitch on July 13, 2004 |

YES! I get my stuff from Southern Prosthetic Supply (SPS)in Alpharetta. I don't use prepreg. Not too good w/it. You can get everything you need from them...even the pump and laminating stand. I'll trade you a laminating lesson or two if you give me a "battletrax" one.

I checked the SPS website and it looks (to me anyway) that they only deal with the medical community. OPC doesn't seem to have a web site. Do you think they'll have a problem dealing with a hooligan? No doubt she'll be lonely, that's why I take mine most everywhere I go. Again, thanks for the carbon help. I've been looking into doing this kind of thing for a while now, but have found little information for the ignorant. You'll be helping me more than you know. Buellers is the nicest peoples. |
