Author Message   Crazy04 Posted on Monday, July 12, 2004 - 08:14 pm:        I am getting the D&D shipped to me in the next couple of days from Dave ( thanks again ) I was wondering how to install it? Is it just a pull the old off and put the new on and ride or is there some install tips I need to know. The drummer website has a guide on removing the exhaust if you need reference material. Since the XB12R has the flap in the exhaust are there any hard line that need removing? Take off your muffler you will see the cable connected to the top of your muffler...Disconnect it. Then, open up your airbox and you will see the stepper motor disconnect the cable from that. Then you will have to fish the cable out from the bike. When you reinstall your drummer you'll not need the cable. Put your new ecm in located under your seat there's 2 plugs one for the stepper motor and one for plugging in your ecm. Keep your stepper motor plugged in to your new race ecm. It needs to be there so your engine light does not come on. Basically what I am saying..is the bike needs to believe that it is still there. It just won't have a cable connected to it any longer. If you decide to order one any one on this board that has piped a 12 would be able to help ya. It won't mess with the ecm because all it does is tell the actuator to move the valve open and close and such. All I will be putting on is the D&D. I think the check engine light will come on.
