iam new to this site and have just recently purchased a 2001 p3 blast, and i am looking for a cheap set of rear controls , any suggestions? also any other suggestions for cool looks, i was curious if anyone knew of a shorter tail section that i could use for that single rider look, sort of like the m2. any input will be greatly appreciated. |

Check the links to stuff you can't find here section further down the KV list, and our good sponsors - esp American Sport Bike may be able to also find the Banke set up for you at a good price also! Have fun! - I sure have! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Best source for Blast bodywork is Ebay...unless you LIKE paying more at the stealership. BTW Black is the ONLY way to go for a Blast, unless you like red, grape, or yellow :P |

There are some who would trade you bodywork black for yellow, but you'll have to keep asking around. There is some black bodywork on ebay right now! Bankes are the cheapest (still good quality)rearsets to date unless you make your own. PS check bodywork prices before you overpay on ebay. |

I dont think we've seen a shorter tail that will fit any easier than modifying the one thats on the Blast. I've been kicking the short tail idea around but cant seem to find a way to do it AND lose some weight. So far it hasnt been worth the trouble. |

I have a compete set of black, but its been used for a while, and is not perfect...lost its shine, may have severe scratches, etc. I'll see if i can get some pics (if i can find the stuff again lol) |

well i removed the bug screen from my blast, i hated the way it looked, i also removed the belt cover/rear fender and the bike looks better already. now i am looking for something to cover the exposed wires on the front of the bike. i got a 7 inch head light visor from harley, it works alright, but if anyone has any suggestions on something else that might work, let me know (i am trying to steer clear of getting a fairing though) |

Yo Rusty...I'm working out some stuff too and I like your idea...I took my windshield off and just tucked the wires behind the headlight...looks fine to me but what about the part of the headlight bracket that the flyscreen mounts to on either side? Did you Dremel it off of find another suitable bracket? Iquiring minds wanna know! |

i haven't had a chance, but i'm planning on taking it off with a sawz all soon. here's an idea for you, go to a harley store and look at some of the bike accessories, see if you can find a piece called a head light visor (seven inch)it should fit with little trouble. it goes back from the light and might help you hide some of those wires. the part only costs about $14 but you will need to get a mounting kit for it, that should only be a couple of bucks. |

Rusty...more info http://www.toolparts.co.uk/acatalog/Front_Lights.html ...a couple of good options on this page...check out the light brackets about 3/4 down...but now I'm torn after seeing that faring...if I could find some mirrors I REALLY liked, you and I would be comparing Bare Blasts...Ha, Ha! ALSO...anyone with any ideas about a cleaner looking licence plate/tailight/rear signal set-up or will I be fabricating my own? edited by vjb77 on July 08, 2004 |

vjb, some pretty cool stuff, i think i'm going to have to go with the bare blast look, with out the faring, just like that look better. i have a few more things to do now cause i just dumped my bike on a turn on the 3rd of july. i guess that's just a little incentive to give my bike that custom paint job that i wanted to. on a side note i was wondering if anyone knew if there is a harley-made trim for a 7 inch headlamp other than the one MADE for the blast. Perhaps for a soft tail or a duece or something? |

I just put one of those Ebay "diamond cut" headlights on my blasty, looks alot diffrent, with the smooth lens. I need to figure out my wife's camera now... |

I answered my own question...it was in the same place... http://www.toolparts.co.uk/acatalog/Rear_Lights.html ...I think I may try one of these universal rear lights w/ the bracket...sorry about going across the pond but not much else for Blast-o-holics. |

a quick side track, has anyone out there bought the buell pro series air cleaner? from the pics on the buell site it's hard to tell exactly what you get, does it go inside the air box, or does it replace it? does it help preformance at all? |

Replace it - the problem is bracing - see the carb section for ideas - its better than stock, but then there are other lighter options as well. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Contents of the Pro-Series intake: 1) K&N cone filter 2) Plastic 90 deg elbow intake 3) plastic filter shroud 4) hoze clamp to clamp first three items togeather 5) head vent fitting 6) carb/intake gasket. install is pretty easy, needs to have an effective brace system though. Just found my intake boot torn...my own fault for thinking i could get away without bracing it... |

i just ordered my straight bars and they should be coming in by friday, i can't wait to put them on. Any tips for me before i attempt this? i think i have also come up with a totally original idea to replace the front fairing, but you'll have to wait until i post pictures to see it! (top secret you know) i am still debating on the pro-series air intake i'm sure that i'll end up getting it though i am also contemplating painting my blast myself, but i'm gonna be going cheap all the way if anyone has any process of spray or hand painting that worked for them please let me know in detail, i am an artist so i know i can come up with a cool design. |

Unless your drag bars have a slight bend they will hit the tank - if you check the drag bars section - you'll see some that work, but I don't know who they are from - perhaps someone could pipe up here? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Ask Snotires about painting the bike he did a very nice job on his bike. I have used drag bars from JC Whitney and yes they do knock the tank. You need to be careful with the clutch cable routing. If you are not careful you will put to much stress on the cable and it will snap after a couple of months. You should not have to replace any cables or lines, just have to do some creative routing. |

the bars are the crossroads "custom" bars, and they do have an angle to them so hopefully they won't hit the tank. |

i got the actual bars, i had chi-town harley in tinley park order them for me. they came to about $214 and even though they are on the crossroads site for $199 i figured they would be about the same after taxes, shipping, and handling so i let them hastle with the ordering. |

hey EZ do you know of anyone who has used the ski king bar end mirrors with the crossroads bars, i think that would give the bike a pretty wicked look, just wondering. thanks in advance |

The crossroad bars are solid units, therefore you would have to mount the mirrors on the on the bars not in the bars - how about posting a pic of the mirrors? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

EZ--The crossroads bars are hollow. They are solid at the mounting points, but hollow after that, so plug-style barends would work. (Solid bars would have been trouble for me after the fence wrestling session... lol) Rustyballz--They won't hit the tank. They will come within a half inch at full lock, but they won't hit it unless you want them to. The only thing you need to know is this: buy a new set of grips. You won't get the clutch side grip off without cutting it off, if you're still running the stock bars and grips. Also, be careful with the clutch assembly. If you aren't, you could tweak it a little. My "friction zone" moved out to the edge of lever travel when I changed the bars out. Still usable, but a little weird. Also also... The sky king mirrors--You might want to check out the links in the KV and check out CRG. They're about $10 cheaper, as long as you don't mind cutting out the center of your grip and moving them in about a half inch. Then maybe go with some barend weights, as the lightweight hollow bars give you a bit of vibration. Thick grips (I've got the traction grips) cut that a little, but weights would probably help a lot more... BTW, the crossroads bars are great after you get used to tucking down. Worth the money, IMHO. edited by newblaster on July 14, 2004 |

sorry ez i don't have any pics of the mirrors, i just went to yahoo and searched for sky king. that can wait for now, but what i am curious about is wether or not i really have to cut off the clutch side hand grip, because i am eager to switch my bars, but i don't have new grips. newblaster says that i have to, but i was wondering if there is another way. thanks for the help guys. |

First - the stock grips are not worth saving, though if you where diligent and lucky - you could save them taking them off, but realistically, with new bars you also have to get new grips. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |
