I asked this a while back in the KV, but never got an answer, so hopefully I'll get one here so here goes... I know this has probably been discussed, but does anyone know of a good set of clip on bars besides the crossroads bars that will fix my X-1? I just got the Odyssey Kolors fairing and need to get a set of lower bars from stock. I would like a set of clip ons for the ease and cheaper cost of fixing the tubes if I have an "oh crap", but want to make sure I clear the tank and still have a somewhat comfortable ride (i.e. still have a little bit of a rise over typical clip ons). You wont find any. I tried a set of clipons off a ZX7R & they hit the tank unless the bars were completely straight like drag bars. Crossroads are the only ones, but they are real uncomfortable. | ||

Bet ya money the Specii 2 can adjust to any profile you need or want, and made comfey to boot - these really are fully adjustable - including height, and angles at two different points. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Dont know ez, didnt see anything on their charts. What I do know is 2 years ago I researched the hell out of putting clipons on the X1 & came away completely empty. TeleFix or some name like that does make them for the M2, but they wont work on the X1. | ||

Why would they not work on the X1 - with the new height spacers - even if you mounted them low you could use the max of two large spacers (these are new - out about a year and a half ago) or more likely a large and small spacer to get the height you desire - I read that even with the two small spacers that will take you only 1 1/4" - not high enough in the old days, but the new spacers will take you all the way to 2 1/2" up or combine for 1 7/8" rise - you can angle them to any angle - so I just don't see what could be the problem. If the tank had some kind of inverted v thing going I could see a problem, but the X1 tank has more than enough back angle to find a comfortable position on these bars. These are the Profi by Telefix, not the racing version - which is only adjustable at one angle. Explain to me why they wouldn't work - you got me curious! GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

I know that the M2 front is a 43mm so the Specii 2's will fit that, but the X-1 has 54mm, so it becomes quite a bit harder to fit anything. My reasoning for not wanting the xroads is ease of getting replacement bar ends if I do drop the darn thing. Airtech has on their website that they have a set, but don't have any specs on it. I guess I'll check there too. Thanks!! | ||

The bars that stick way out in front of the tubes made me very uncomfortable with steering input. Regular clip ons will hit the tank cover if you don't put steering stops on the frame. Try a good ol cheap set of drag bars for $12 first. The wrist angle is OK and there not too low for everyday riding. Plus you can pick them up anywhere and take em' back if they don't feel right to you. | ||

They still hit the tank. The X1 has a very wide tank up front & unless you do add additional stops as posted earlier you will either beat the crap outta your tank or cut your thumbs off if you ever got into a tank slapper. | ||

OK - even though the Pro-Tec says theirs is specifically for Buell in that size. Not trying to argue, but help. You say there are none, yet there are several, including ones specifically made for Buell. I'd suggest a damper for the tank slapping, and add some bumpers to your tank or bars to prevent thumb pinch - lol - I wonder if Scott has a damper for the X1, I'm sure Ohlin's does. Got Thump?! EZ..just because physically they will fit on the forks doesnt mean they will work. Hell you can go out & buy the fitch fuel catalyst, the inline fuel turbolater thingy with vanes on it, a 4" fart can exhaust & install them all on a Hyundai. Wont work but they will fit. Believe me when I say I looked at every company making clipons, even had Grndskpr loan me a set off his kawi to try & nothing is available due to the amount of stop to stop movement of the forks vs the size of the tank. If you wanted to somehow install a slim Manta tank like off an S1 then you could install clipons, but with the standard X1 tank there is nothing that works. | ||

M2 & X1 have completely different tanks. Blake has an M2 & he has Telefixs or some deal. The X1 tank is very wide in front & those wont clear it. | ||

My S1: Moose thickwall mx bars! half the rise and less pullback. The less pullback will help with the clearance issues from the lower rise. btw: I can go between the fat and skinny tanks at will with no problems. btw2: mx bars are every where and fairly cheap to replace. The above mentioned MOOSEs were less than $40. | ||

Verlicchi swan neck clip-ons sold for the later Guzzi sport bikes should work on the X1. The downside is they go for around 275 bucks but they're really nice. How they would work with a frame mounted fairing is another story but www.mgcycle.com would be the place to get them. If you call, say Hi to Cheesehead for me. | ||

This the fairing that I got, so everyone will know why I need to go fairly low. I have tried a straight drag bar and it does not allow me to adjust my front suspension and is still tight with the fairing, which is why the clip on route.  Dyna, How much do the bars hit? Is it just a little at full lock, or is is just barely hitting? Karl | ||

The Odyssey Kolors fairing normally comes complete with a set of stainless steel 'Ace' type bars that utilise the stock bar clamp. They are drilled to allow adjustment of the suspension. If you bought the fairing new you should contact the retailer as these should be included. If you bought used then we may be able to get the bars for you if you wish.  |
