Blackhawk in right outside of Beloit WI,just across the IL line. There are plenty of hotels in Beloit or Rockford but I don't have anything set up with any. Dave |

Oh I freely admit that at Blackhawk I would get beat. Small tight track & its my first track day with this bike. Have done a few track days already with the X1 & had a ball. Gonna be a good time. |

Blackhawk Farms is a really neat track. I did the track day at Homecoming '99. I wish I lived a little closer, but unfortunately 1200 miles is just a bit too much to travel. Maybe someday... |

Pete, look back thru my postings over the years & I have never once suggested that Blackhawk was a hp track. In fact too much hp at the track can be a penalty because you can get in over your head real fast. |

only mototrcyclist to die at blackhawk is alledgedly a 250 rider that was weaving HUGELY to "warm up his tires" . . . . . . . . no, CJ, you won't die . . . .it's a very safe environment |

Hey Dave, I see that Edge Racing has some trackside vendors (Lithium Motorsports) providing tires, etc.. Any chance that Appleton HD can do the same or does Edge have it all sewn up with their own gang? I was planning to get some race rubber thrown on about the 2d week of August but just might get it done trackside if it is available. Also, are you going to bring any spare parts such as levers, bars and belts just in case? If you're going just to tear up the track and leave work behind that's cool too, just thought I'd ask. |

I'll bring some spare stuff along. What tires do you want? I'll get a price for you. Dave |

Damn are you up early today. Leaving at 9am today & the group wants to stop at your shop. Hopefully the pee breaks will be minimized & we should be there between 11:30 & 12:00. |

I was thinking a set of Diablo Corsas, Super Corsas or Michelin H2s. The Diablo Corsa would give more mileage after track day but the idea of running a real track tire is appealing.

I've been working so much I'm lucky to get 250 per week these days. I need a weekend road trip, the few people I know around here don't want to ride unless their bike is detailed. |

Damn, didnt quite hit 2600 today, about 24 miles short & my butt is simply too beat to take anymore tonight. 361 miles today, that beats my best by 100 miles. Hell by the time summer is over I may have thos buns of steel & be able to handle 500+ mile days...either that or cry to & beg Corbin to make me a seat |

Dyna...Take your Tush and your R1 to the custom saddlemaker at Cycle Empire. Have him look at it and give you a quote. The guy does great work on all types of bikes, but you may have to bribe him for a quick turnaround this time of year. Another suggestion would be to pick up a second saddle for your bike from a junk yard if possible. The send it to either Sergeant's, Corbin or where ever you want for modifications. That way you won't be riding on a towel till you get it back. |

A towel might be more comfy. Good thing is the folks on the XB lightnings were even worse off than I was. |

So Chris, you gonna sign up for the track day? Its a lot of fun & to be honest its only as dangerous as you decide to make it. Since you will obviously be in the beginners class, then I guarantee you will have nothing but fun. |

What's the drill for this type of track day? I mean, what gear do you need? How does the bike need to be prepped? Etc. Thanks, Snow |

Snowdave, it's hosted by Edge Performance Racing http://www.edgeracing.net/index.html Their requirements are rather minimal compared to a lot of track days/schools. edited by easyflier on July 14, 2004 |
