It is pretty anemic, if I remember correctly from a Cycle World review of the 620 IE. Keep in mind, I did not see a direct comparison to the Sporty in the review.

Aaron,
Congratulations on a job well done! Here's hoping nothing but happiness for the new couple! I have to say I envy you in the sense that you've already gone the distance from "pre-production planning" to "product completion and delivery" in the offspring business. Lord knows I'm old enough to have done the same, but have yet to even get started (though I do like to "test the production line" as often as possible!) My wife, somewhat my junior, is making noises toward producing something of our own lately and I fear greatly for the future of a good night's sleep!
Best wishes,
Jay

I have a question for anyone out there who may be on the bottle……

I’m looking at a used X1, history unknown, and I’m concerned about previous life. Left grip switch housing has small push button switch (push=on, release =off) and red LED directly above it. The switch can be easily depressed with thumb while other fingers remain wrapped around left handlebar grip. A bundle of around 4-6 thin gage wires leaves the switch housing and have been cut near the frame neck area. Race ECM and Power Commander installed under seat.

Was this bike previous fitted with NOS????????

I'm not on the bottle and haven't been for many years, but look very closely around the intake and throttle body for clamps and strange holes with plugs, look under the tail section of the body for telltale signs of a bottle being clamped there, look at any place on the bike where a small thermos could be attached, look around the battery for an unused relay with clipped wires.

There's plenty of them around so if you have any uneasyness in the purchase then keep looking, especially if you don't like the answer the owner gives as to what the switch and wires were for.

And if you want a nice X1 in good shape then contact Outrider Bill just north of you a short ride.

Hmmm. Don't know why there would be 4 to 6 wires. Could have been nitrous or maybe a push to talk button for a radio, but both of those should only require two wires (one incoming, one outgoing).

Scrap,
I don't know if Brian logs on much but show him this picture I took last night.
I came across another old Jawa!
Bugger ran like a top and was VERY clean.
This one had been restored a bit, new paint and such but very cleanly done.

Enjoy Brian!

For any network admin's out there - Barracuda's Spam Firewall is amazing. Real time blocking of spam and viruses using a wide variety of techniques. It's correctly blocking 4 of every 5 emails to my company. 30 days and 1,083,356 blocked emails (plus 12,749 viruses) it has yet to block a "good" message.

Take a look at this "conversation" and tell me if this looks fishey? I responded with my full name but, I'm hesistant to supply anymore information. I asked in the last e-mail for some more details on him and his client and where this maybe going.

Back 10-12 years ago I had a Guy buy my 84' Interceptor for KBB retail cash to ship over to Sweeden/ Norway since they paid such a high penalty for new high HP bikes. He shipped 30-40/ month and made good $'s in his business. This might be the same sort of scenario, maybe????

Neil: I think you need to get all his personal information, including full name, phone # and address first. Then call and speak to him on the phone - making sure that info is correct. Finally somehow verify the address information as well. If all that for whatever reason is not do-able, then I'd bail.

Don't give him any more info until you're completely satisfied you know who and what you're dealing with.

Just make sure the check clears. I'd discuss with your local bank manager and hand him the check and request he verify it's authenticity. Overseas checks may take a while to clear.

I'd suggest Western Union, not a check of any sort.

The fact he is using a yahoo address for an overseas company strikes me as odd. All the overseas companies I have had dealings with in cases like this (which was often in hawaii for various things) all had emails that related to their ISP's and not a webbased yahoo/hotmail/lycos email.

YMMV,

quote:

Sounds like a generic canned text, no specific reference to the item you were selling, no specific reference to precisely where he/she/it saw it. Sounds more like an e-mail harvester cross-referenced to classifieds.

And the part about the shipper and client are right in line with scammers.

Cash in hand, buyer picks it up in person after an inspection, no shipment until the "cashier cheque" completely clear the bank in a neutral new bank account that can't be reverse drained while you are asleep. Couple that with the fact that he didn't seem to even flinch when the X1 was sold and you offered him an S2 instead.

If you really want to test the waters send him an email and say the S2 is potentially sold but you might be thinking of selling your Buell C4 Twister instead and see what his response is. If he's still interested then just forward his contact info to the proper Federal authorities. Or if you need some new wallpaper for the bathroom then request him to send the cheque for the C4.

IMHO. The potential buyer may be legit, but sound more likely he/she/it is not.

Its fits the profile of the standard scam. They will give you a cashiers check, that *will* clear your bank, and then tell you that you have to wire some part of that money to some other account they control.

Two weeks later, after they have taken your money and evaporated, your bank will call you and say there was a fraud on the cashiers check / whatever, and they will withdraw the money back out of your account.

You are then screwed, as you can't get back the portion you "forwarded" them.

There are other ways you might be able to get confidence for a legit transaction, talk to your banker, or maybe western union. Somebody that will be willing to say "once this money gets in your hand, it is yours to keep". That will, of course, rely on the *buyer* completely trusting you, and you could then scam them if you wanted, so I doubt many buyers would go down that road.

You can delete your acct yourself & then setup a new one. You will lose all your info currently in your profile, but thats no big deal.

And whats wrong with the Gixxer name anyways? At least its different from the hundreds of folks who have names that are so similar like XB9er, XB903, XB12lover, XBBJ, etc.

This is 100% a scam. I have been contacted by several people like this. If he wants to pay you for the bike with a cashiers check that is over the amount you are asking this is a standard scam. He will also ask you to send the difference of you bike and the extra amount to a business client that he also owes money too. He sends you a fake check that looks 100% real. Not even your bank can tell. You cash it and send the difference to the client. The check comes back bad and now you owe the bank the total.

None of it is traceable. Look up Nigerian check scam on google and you can read more.
