I've changed my belt using a rear swingarm stand just as jasonblue and AL described. Worked like a champ. I just wish I didn't have to replace belts... POS belts!
It is nice to be able to put a floor jack under the muffler, but there are other ways. You just need some creativity and perhaps some tools.

This is the way to jack things up...I could have removed the rear stand but it makes things just a little more stable.

ROFLMAO! 
That's MY muffler after a little get-off low siding into a ditch last fall.
Kinda spooky you post a pic of my muffler right after my post above...
There was a small tree at the bottom of the ditch, which of course wrapped itself around my muffler. 
No, there was no damage to the cases. Not even a pinched oil line. I rode the bike home another 20 miles with it like that. Later, I cut it in half to see the internal damage, and the main pipe was squashed to about 1/4". Still sounded good! 
I like to think of it as a crumple zone Erik designed for us, cause if that muffler wasn't there, surely I'd have busted a case.
Crunching that muffler is the reason I now have a D&D (and Trojan CF Frame SLiders). Thanks DaveS!
