Probably jumping the gun here cause it will take me a couple weeks or so to get the results BUT, I just got a big box today with a HSA muffler in it. They sent it to me to do some testing and dyno numbers for it. Stay tuned, there may be another muffler player in town, complete with 3rd party dyno sheets(yes I am the 3rd party) So far, well, it looks cool! Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com |

Dave: You talking about these HSA mufflers? See http://www.hsaexhaust.de/shop/k001u006s001.htm and then click on the 'Buell XB' links on the left hand side. http://www.hsaexhaust.de/neues/doppelrohrauspuffx.jpg They also have dyno links up... Chris

Yep, those are the ones. If I like what they do I'll be getting some so people don't have to pay the shipping all the way from Germany. Dave |

My D&D very rarely backfires, and I ride the out of it. Dave, can you get the fender eliminator kit with the double tail light in the above posted site. Trojan used to have it on their site. |

Popping upon deceleration due to loss of backpressure... As far as I've been told. Correct me if I'm wrong. Dave, There's more pics of the pipe under the dyno sheet on that link. It looks very nice. As good in finish as the Jardine. I only hope they've figured out a descent chin fairing bracket arrangement! |

Jason, Yes I can, I will be putting together a "bulk" order as soon as I get done testing the pipe. Can you wait a while? Dave |

Hi Daves - which one did you get? - I had the HSA on my 9R and it worked wonders and now have the "dobble viper" on the 12S and it is very strong as well. Looking forward to your thoughts as compared to the other pipes out there. |

Backfires on Buells are very often a sign of an exhaust leak. You should check it out. Henrik |

420, have you tried setting your idle a little higher? If you can set it a bit higher without causing that "xb idle hanging thing" then it will be less likely to backfire upon closing the throttle on decel. When I had the Latus pipe, it did the same thing, and setting the idle a little higher got rid of it. |

Kaudette, They did not send any clamps to mount it. Do you use the stock ones? Dave |

Stock clamps work fine. Mine was snug getting it onto the headers but I don't have a work bench and needed to do it on the side stand so in the shop it should be better. The fairing mounts weren't perfect and took a different bolt than the stock ones so be careful of stripping the bolt or the inserts. Also don't tighten the screws on the fairing mount too much or you risk snapping the weld on the mounts and having the bolt spin freewheel in the screw mount. Not sure if that is clear...

Jasonblue, My D&D backfires every time I decelerate. What ECM are you using? Thanks, Keith |

Daves, let me correct myself - I have the Double Power Race - not the "dobble viper" so I'm not sure about the mounts - best bet to get Udo Huls provide guidance on the installation. Udo Huls [udo@hsaexhaust.de] |

The fuelling of the XB's is set up so that when you close the throttle it still allows some fuel through for a few moments. This is to lessen engine braking and can cause the popping and banging on the overrun. Some aftermarket pipes are more likely to pop and bang than others I think. We have been selling the HSA pipes for some time now and have had no major problems. The chin spoiler mounts do not have threaded inserts, so you will have to use nut and bolts to secure it. Build quality isn't up to the same standards as the Sebring/Remus can, but is good for the price. |

Dave, Yes I can wait a while for that tail section, just let me know. Do you have a price on it? Skully, I am running the race ECM and K&N. When I first installed the D&D it did backfire quite a bit. After about a month it seemed to taper off. I have adjusted the idle a few times, that may have helped. I have had the pipe for about 6 months and every once in a while it will start popping again. It usually stops when I fill up with fresh fuel. Makes me wonder if different gases have something to do with it? But like I said it doesn't happen that often. Jason |

549,00 EUR = 664.95 USD That's from the website link above. It'll have to do at least as good as the D&D at that price.

ive done ALL the generic upgrades the 12 box seemd to quite it down a little but then i put on the race ecm im thinking of trying torque cones see if that offers improvment in the backfiring OR just hp/tq im also halfway thru a deal on a pc3 if that dont work out as well as i hope ill end up trying the techlusion box either way ill make it go away or i wont no big deal really cuz it still is the baddest soundigng bike ive EVER heard and as i like to say its just dirty paper |
