Thanks Guys. I posted a question on Dyna's TWT thread that hopefully someone has an answer to. Mike...Just teasing you about "assuming the position." Dyna...What, no pic of the Gold Wing Cafe Racer? Figured that would have entertained us all for years. That was really quite a bike in the pre-fairing years. Can't wait to hear how many miles Dyna gets out of his rear tire with all that hooliganism. Have to admit that once one gets the feel of a bike with that much power, tire longevity becomes insignificant. LOL My tires seem to last forever, but then I don't abuse the bike as I don't want to push it home.

Have done a couple of minor burnouts until I discovered the cost of a replacement Dunlop 218..new tire that was just released. $300+ & thats not including mounting. Screw that, I think I will be putting on some Diablos. |

Geez, I always get free mounting and balancing with my tires, and I get a discount on them too! Just shop around. A rear tire for $300 sounds a bit high unless it is really to die for. If that's the case, I would suspect that a lesser tire would not be desirable in the performance and handling department. Forget longevity. You didn't buy a sport touring bike. You bought a performance monster. If you get 3,000 miles out of a rear you are average, more and you ride like Bomber and me. That's fast and smooth. No need to be hard on the tires with excessive acceleration and braking. You can still win in the twisties and save yourself some bucks in the process. Oh well, no big deal. Once the newness wears off and you finish exploring the outer limits you will most likely resign yourself to being the fastest kid in town without tossing your money away needlessly. LOL Back to the tire issue. Bottom line is you have a very unique bike and when things happen that fast you need all the help you can get in controlling it. Just don't shop price you may end up dying because you didn't buy the tire to die for. PS: Tell Dee I said it was alright for you to buy the best tires for your bike. It is cheap insurance! edited by Outrider on June 16, 2004 |

Anybody heading Anywhere around for TWT. Am thinking about heading towards one if the monsoon's cease before my Ark is done. So post when and where. Perhaps we will catch up to you. Incidentally, the Former Prince known as Dyna or is it the former Dyno known as Squid reported, The Brady Street area is no longer host to TWT compliments of, the now well into menopause, LaVerne and Shirley. Apparently, they turned an upscale Eastside neighborhood into a group of Mean Anti-Bikee Chicks. They blamed it on the noise, but I think the real cause was when Lenny proposed to Squiggy in order to get one of those gay marriages in Bean Town so they use Lenny's insurance to get a brain transplant for Squiggy. Either that or it was when Camine turned into a Drag Queen and ran away with the local chapter of Dykes on Trikes. Not sure, the MJS is a little vague on this, but all I would like to say is "Way to go, Bimbo's!!!" Incidentally, on the Eastside, Lulu's is the interim location and just may be it unless another is found. Incidentally, anyone wishing to protest the closure of TWT on Brady Street is requested to hang posters in the Men's Rooms on Water Street referencing "Gay's get Harley's swept off Brady Street." That ought to keep the cops busy for a while, eh? |

Dyna...Am not riding the Buell, so it would best be somewhere that is Harley Tolerant. Will also depend how Di feels. She has been stressed to the max lately and is finally getting some much needed rest. Will check back later. |

Does anybody have access to a mandrel or something to get a few decent bends on some reasonably heavy strapping? A brake or shear and a source for some steel around 1/8th inch or better would be good to know as well. I don't need much, about 2"-3" wide by about 10"-12" long, with about a 3" diameter bend and a couple of 45°-75° bends on the extended tabs. Might need a few holes or oval slots punched as well. Making up a muffler hanger strap and can probably get by using the anvil and a hammer and a dremel tool and a cutting torch, but the proper tools would make the project so much nicer. No hurry though. Thanks for any leads, or for any pointers to any good tooler's rummage sales. mike. |

Sorry Mike, can't help you out there but will ask around. The ironic thing is if we were in So Cal, I could walk you into a bunch of shops. Whereas, here in Milwaukee, formerly Mecca for small and basement machine shops, I all the one's I knew are gone. |

Great. Give me a week or 8 to get the replacement muffler in and installed and the old one off and prepped and gutted. And since you have a comparable bike fit measurements should be simple, or I can trailer down mine and then do a quick test ride for sound and performance feel. I've got some ideas on internals mods picked up from boats and hotrods. Don't know if it will work, but pretty sure the strap will so all won't be lost. Thanks. |

Anyone headed to Lulu's tonight? Sure it may not be a huge meeting spot right now, but you have to start somewhere & unfortunately its always at the bottom. Be there around 7:ish, seems like the bigger crowd doesnt roll in till 8:30-9. |
