Has anybody seen or heard from Court lately? Is he OK? Did he just get tired of posting? Does anybody know? | ||

He has posted before that he checks the site about once a month now, but rarely posts anymore. I think he said something to the effect that it's just not the same. He did not say that the forum had gone to shit, but I'm guessing that's the reason he no longer posts. Amazing how a very few number of people can slowly, but surely grind down and destroy what was once a beautiful online community. It's sad, and depresses me. I've voiced my thoughts, as have others, to no avail. I'm thinking the end is near. Just a short matter of time before the site goes dark. | ||

I've been lurking... got tired of the rigamorole and routine BS, but there are many still here that I value. Missed the humor of many here and the brightness, intelligence of all here. Hoped to meet Jaime at the Ride/Write get together very recently but my rectifier is not to be trusted anymore on the PC800, weak charging system. Good to know most still posting are well- tried recently to contact Vern, phone, no answer as of yet. Shot a FB message to Gainer to have him check too, no reply from him but he's good, probably busy. My City Cross is long gone, I put 46K+ miles and a second motor on it bombing too many roads at illegal speeds with you all, and I'm still alive, we must keep in touch and FKKKUUKK politics. That's what drove me silent here. I've studied many philosophers that I've grown to love in my studies, I am not a socialist or marxist or anything close. This American democracy allows all views as I remember and know it... I hope you, my friends, see it the same way. We have our beliefs and loves, and passions. Erik's creations brought us here on BW, and also to the roads everywhere. I'm back in if you'll have me. | ||

Damn, that would've been a nice surprise. It was an AWESOME gathering down in Fontana; especially how most of western North Carolina was devastated by the hurricane, Fontana was unscathed. The resort lost electricity but had everything up and running three days before we arrived. Nobody was able to get a cell signal, but the resort's wireless network was up and reachable over 95% of the property. | ||

Free speech matters. If we want censorship, there is always Facebook. If American Jewish folks fresh after the holocaust can tolerate Nazis marching through their own neighborhood, we ought to be able to tolerate a caricature in poor taste. London does actually suffer major problems due to the recent prevalence there of young Islamic N African male immigrants. Is it not valuable to allow bigots to reveal themselves? But it is a culture issue, not a racial issue. | ||

I seem to remember a certain rude joke being removed. Hence the birth of the not rude joke thread. When we had active custodians, the sort of things that would get you in trouble at work were removed in a timely fashion and the poster admonished not to do it again. Has nothing to do with hard. I'm not one for censorship, but as a member of many forums...they are private businesses. Alcohol is legal in all 50 states, yet businesses wisely ban it during work hours. Nobody hollers "infringement" at that. Badweb is your "house" so to speak. How do you let your guests behave, when in your actual house? At what point, do you ask them to leave? Do your guests know your expectations before they arrive? Are they reasonable expectations? I'm all for free speech, but if you come in my living room and talk shit about me, and disgust me on purpose, and try to get a rise out of me? I'll show you the door. Free speech is a PUBLIC theorem; a GOVERNMENTAL one. Badweb is a private space. This ain't facebook and it ain't youtube. This is(was) a small, specialized, likeminded group of enthusiasts. Talking politics is one thing and Lord knows I've done plenty of that. But, it can be done without being insulting, disgusting, and degenerate. Deliberately trolling isn't free speech - it's antagonizing people for kicks. I would venture to say many if not most of us here, have met each other in person and shared roads, rides, and stories together. Who is TP? Has anyone met this entity? Where did they come from, and what is their goal here? This is your house, Blake, and you can do as you wish...but man. I can't imagine sitting in your living room and treating any of your other guests this way, and expecting to get away with it. | ||
