Is it a WP shock? It's not a "welded eye" front mount. It has a Ohlins damper but probably only this is Ohlins

it's a 16,5 inch the plates on either side of the spring are billet, not steel stamping. My 16,5 Showa on the S1W started leaking so I'm searching a replacement. (Message edited by Conv90 on October 17, 2024) |

Can't tell you fur sure what it is, but it is not the recalled welded eyelet shock. I reread your post and see you were not questioning if it was the welded shock. (Message edited by Blks1l on October 18, 2024) |

The adjuster ring looks like a Penske |

I try again: I have read another post https://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47 623/806349.html?1495669647 It seems the same shock |

in this post there are 2 WP shoks. One with the welded end. They seems the same to the one I posted the images. in the post many are saying that both are UNSAFE. At the end the OP chose to use the "welded" end type and I don't understand why |

I'm undecided if to buy it or not because there are people that are searching it (the WP one) and others that wants to avoid it |

You're in Belgium right? You could contact Twin Motorcycles for one of their tube frame shock replacements, they're not cheap, but brand new and supposedly pretty good. |

I'm in Italy, the TwinMotorcycle shock is very good. I'd like... but it's 850 EUR shipped and Vat applied. Just curious to know if it's a bargain buying the one in this thread (or not). I mean: I'm loosing an opportunity? (Message edited by Conv90 on October 19, 2024) |

There is a new 380mm ohlins shock on eBay Italy for 1300-$ I don't know if it's exactly as they advertise it , but you could ask. The twinmotorcycles shock is a really nice one! They deliver good quality parts and stand behind their products. Its totally understandable that you go for a used cheaper option (I would do the same because I'm a diy kind of person) But it's a big change that the used shock needs a rebuild in the near future! It depends on your wallet (new shock )and if you know a good business that does shock/suspension rebuilds (used shock) New doesn't always mean better , but if going for used parts ,you have to find someone that does good work with rebuilding/repairs and stand behind their product if the time is there. |

Thank you to All. What I wanted to know is IF the shock I posted the pics is a WP shock. AND If a WP shock is something to AVOID (because the one object of a recall where it snaps the front mount allowing for a catastrophic failure) OR if it's desiderable. I added the link of an old post only for comparison (in the link there are 2 different WP shocks -one with welded end and one similar to mine-), just to see the differences and because there are comments where someone (Court too) says that's it's DANGEROUS. |

This is an original shock used on the S2 Buell. Not one with the welded eye issue. BUT! Recommend you buy a new one from Twin Motorcycles. Much improved ride and life time warranty; https://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp ?mc=1&aid=4323 |
