Looks like the Kursk region is going to have a vote on joining Ukraine. Fascinating to look at the maps from the famous battle of Kursk ( The Tigers Are Burning by Martin Caidin tells the story well ) and noticing the roads are a bit better. But unlike in WW2, the massive defensive positions that stopped the ( actual ) Nazis wasn't replicated this year, despite the flood of Rubles to make defensive preparations, and apparently ended up in the local Putinista's bank accounts. To be fair, the Soviets in 1943 had plenty of warning, and the Germans delayed repeatedly giving them time to put thousands of anti tank guns and tanks and millions of mines in the path of the enemy. While Putin's minions had, well, even more time to prepare, but apparently stole the money and did nothing useful. Tp goes on about Putin taking revenge on, everyone. There are cases where you have to go back centuries to see who attacked who first, to trace the back and forth revenge cycle. Ireland is a great example of that. It started before written records existed in the Isles. ( I'll give Irish Reavers the first provocation, from a time when both islands had multiple kings and tribes. But I could be wrong ) But the Russia/Ukraine conflict history goes back to the Czars and is well documented, especially by the Czar's publicity department, and the Russians are the aggressors, genocidal rapists, thieves and Bad guys for well over a century, and the worst Bad Guys were the Soviets. Although the Putin regime has tried. The risk of nuclear war is high.
