Attention Buells in the Alps (BITA) attendees. In lieu of meeting at Little Switzerland this year, we are going to meet with the former Buell/EBR Tail of the Dragon Ride group. Last year, they moved their meet location to Mountain City, TN, along the road known as the Snake. They enjoyed it so much, they invited us this year. Just like Little Switzerland, there are plenty of other great roads in the area. Info on the meet is provided below:
quote:This group was the annual Buell/EBR Tail of the Dragon ride. Last year we moved to Mountain City TN and rode the Snake and surrounding areas. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to hold this years rally at the same time and place. This year plan on arriving July 23rd, group rides will be the 24th through the 27th, and plan on departing on the 28th. Our home base is at Corncreek Camp and Cabins in Mountain City, TN. Reserve your campsite well in advance, and if you would prefer to rent a hotel room there are plenty in town.

Yup. TN421 (The Snake) between Holston Lake and Mountain City is wonderful. Low traffic volume and generally in great condition. Stop at the country store in Strawberry Valley for a cold one, run both sides of 421, then turn around and run it again. TN321 to Watauga Lake is another good romp. A bit further afield, try NC194 from 321/Vilas to Banner Elk, a richey-rich little town to stop for lunch and people watch. Even further west, hit TN 143/NC261 between Roan Mountain and Bakersville. Once in Bakersville, jog on 226A to 80 south almost all the way to I-40. NC221 between Blowing Rock and Linville is good but gets crowded with touristas. If you get bored with the offerings to the south, take Denton Valley Rd from TN421 (just before you cross the lake) toward Abingdon VA, then run the north end of VA80 from Meadowview to Elk Garden. VA80 is named Hayter's Gap--worth the trip! |

Hugh, If this event is still on, I'll plan to join you all on Friday and Saturday (7/26 and 7/27) on my Cyclone. I prefer hotels over camping so I'll plan to stay elsewhere and meet up with you all for the group rides on those days. Thanks. -Jamie. |

Yes, it's still on. There are some reasonable air bnb's in the area as well; that's where I'm staying . Hope to see you there. |

Twig says he will be there Friday, so that' s at least 3 Badwebbers who will be in attendance. I 'm going to check on some of the other regulars. |

This meet starts 1 week from today. Preliminary head count is 14 riders for some or all days. Hope to have 3 more ride up for the day on Saturday. This could be the biggest Buell meet in the southeast for some years. |

I'm finally getting around to posting photos from the meet last week. I think there were about 25 people in attendance and 15 or 16 Buells. I believe we had 5 Badwebbers in attendance and the rest were members of the Buell XB Forum. I haven't seen that many Buells in one place in a LONG time. A great bunch of guys to ride with but they set a BRISK pace at times. They're already talking about having next year's meet at Two Wheels of Suches in Georgia. That's a regular gathering spot for Badweb so it'll be cool if we could combine all these BuellXB Forum guys with a bunch of Badwebbers. Mark your calendar for July 2025 if you're interested in coming.
