The Biden* Executive Order includes the loophole that Joe* can change his mind on any of it any time he feels like. Basically lies, all the way down. It does offer the fig leaf that it "only" allows 912,500 asylum seekers per year to be counted. The other 3 million plus will be ignored for purposes of lying more. But they sure will get our money. | ||

Sure, it's a cliche, but a true one. Rats nest in the ballast and low inaccessible places, so when leaks flood the nests, they leave. Sailors know not to join a ship with the rats leaving it, "no thanks, I'll wait for a job that doesn't make me work the bilge pumps all the time." Plus the little matter of dying at sea. The metaphor isn't perfect. Rats don't talk to reporters to try to distance themselves from a sinking ship, or negotiate with prosecutors to get immunity and testify against the ship owner. A much closer metaphor is mafia/mobster stories, with the "rats" demanding protection from their bosses, who will murder them to shut them up. Even previously loyal minions know that they aren't Family, and thus disposable. The guy all the World Leaders are getting ready to pose with wasn't first down, not sure if he was last. The jumper was loosening straps because you can't stand straight with everything tight. ( in free fall it's not a problem, but on the ground the reserve pulls you into a crouch, not comfortable or photo-pretty ) Joe* got distracted by more interesting stuff, guys folding chutes and flags, maybe even another jumper coming down. I know when I'm in a Drop Zone, I'm watching for incoming jumpers and one right next to me, safe, is no longer primary interest. I doubt Joe* was poised to go help if someone hit hard, but in a distracting environment with a lot going on posing with the crowd obviously wasn't his attention center. Sure, I think of myself as a backup First Responder, and I'd love to look at the mil-spec HALO gear, while I think Joe* was a bit overwhelmed by all the action, but it's not an environment he's at home with. In contrast, I'd be a bit lost on a Carrier flight deck during ops, despite my keen interest, while my Brother in law was a pro and knows the dance. |
