Not many options for this it appears. Looks like St Paul has the kit for about $85...that sound about right? Took the S1W to work today and NO front brake. Firm lever and it *kinda* slows the bike...but the rear brake is stronger (!). I'm thinking only one piston is moving...or they're only moving a hair and locking up. No leaks, fluid level is good. Gonna pop the bleeder and test the MC, to be safe... Shame it's not an S2 PM caliper, I have a handful of those kits on the shelf.... | ||

Would they take the same rebuild kits as a 97 Kawasaki ZX7RR? | ||

Is the Kaw a nissin 6 piston? I'd be surprised... | ||

Yeah, appears to be the same 6 piston as the S1W, just with a different mount offset. It's what's used as a caliper source for twin caliper setups with an adapter bracket on the other side to account for the different offset based on the digging I did. | ||

Hm, interesting. I'll keep that in mind. I did a craigslist rebuild on the caliper last night - disassemble, clean, lube, install, bleed - and it feels better. Not quite like I think it should...but definitely has stopping power again. We'll see how it does after some rides and heat cycles - but when I tested it on my 1/4 mile driveway, it grabbed quite nicely when I gave it a good squeeze. |
