I'm well aware of the bravery of the Russian People in WW2. Stalin murdered more than Hitler. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casua lties_of_the_Soviet_Union https://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/20TH.HTM A rough figure of 27 million Russians died in WW2, ACCORDING TO LYING SOVIET SCUM. Half of those were Civilians starved to death by the Soviets, shot by Commisars to terrorize the people, and then another 5-9 million Civilians killed by artillery, ( from both sides ) and German troops. That leaves 8+ million Soviet troops killed in the war, less than a quarter, probably, by Stalin's Commisars. Those are unreliable lies from the Fundamentally Dishonest Soviets. Vs. An outside massive undercount by grad students years later estimates 62+ million Russians Murdered by Soviet thugs. Imho it's probably 4 times that. Which leaves Stalin the #2 mass murderer in human history behind Mao. And Stalin was surprised when Hitler betrayed him. Which puts his IQ in AOC double digit numbers. And several papers I've read in the U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings, & U.S. Army War College publications that analyze WW2 strategy and tactics credit Stalin for at least 50% excess deaths of his own soldiers from irrational decisions and orders. I can make a better case that Larry Bell, buried in Buffalo New York, did more to save Russian lives than Stalin for his company's production of the best ( most kills of Nazi aircraft ) fighter plane used by the Soviet Air forces in WW2. Certainly more deserving of the award of Hero and absolutely more deserving of respect. |

That directly contradicts the propaganda he was steeped in all his life. It is easier to fool someone than it is to convince someone that they have been fooled. |

Brave Russian people is just a part of what led the success. Any people need a leader makes the right decisions otherwise those people would not succeed. Stalin is the one decisions of whom lead to elimination of the German nazy. The same situation is with the Ukrainian nazy. Russian people need a leader who will eliminate the Ukrainian nazy. Without Putin Russian people alone might not be able to do this because of they still need the one who makes the decisions. Hell, you probably would not be alive if Stalin would not exist because of Hitler would nuke the USA in case of Russia failed to eliminate the German nazy. So you have to be grateful he existed just like other millions people all around the world he saved. (Message edited by TPEHAK on March 07, 2024) |

It is true that if the Russians had not kept Germany occupied on the Eastern Front, the war might have dragged out longer. But the Russians did not defeat the Nazis, the weather did. All Russia succeeded in doing was losing a lot of men. As poorly equipped as they were, it is surprising they did not lose more. But then, anything for the motherland, eh, comrade? Stalin certainly did not give a shit. |

Hoot, you "could" argue that Stalin saved a few million Nazis by taking Berlin. If the Soviets hadn't received all those American made trucks and airplanes. ( Almost the entire production of the Bell factory in Buffalo, and so many Ford trucks they are still running some today ) and thus been slowed by a few years before they heroically pushed the Germans back to their border, then there's no doubt that Truman would have nuked Berlin. I suspect Moscow might have been the recipient of the third bomb. ( assuming the Japanese Emperor stopped the war with only one city irradiated ) That assumes that Patton would have not been killed, ( ostensibly a car crash, but the NKVD is suspect ) and influenced Truman. Nuking Moscow in 1945 would have been an enormous tragedy in the short term, but in the long term, assuming the US stopped an unsupported by Stalin, Mao, saved well over a Billion lives in the 1945-1975 years. Just from people murdered by their own government. Would certainly have saved the lives of a few Hundred Million Russians. This won't be a popular view by those indoctrinated in Soviet lies, like AOC, but the numbers don't lie in this case. Better yet would be to pay a criminal to murder Lenin in jail, in 1897, if you're going to retcon the universe, but... |

The war would have dragged out not that longer because of without Stalin it ended up pretty soon by Germany obliterated USA with nuclear bombs and others just gave up on fight after this event. Then Germany nazy would finished the genocide of Jews and slaved other countries. After such events you obviously would not be born in 1970 because of your grandfather and his kids would be erased by the nuclear strikes in 1946 and you would not login into this forum today and would not complain about how bad Stalin is. Stalin is not the indispensable man. Any good leader would have defended the Motherland without resorting to mass murder. Cynical religious fanatics exploiters like Stalin don't deserve respect, they lie for power. |

Grandparents! Yea! https://9gag.com/gag/a8qr273 Flew this last summer out to Oklahoma to drive back with a buddy who was visiting his Grandkids. He'd been fixing tractors, building greenhouses, etc. on their new farm ( Moved to OK to escape the Portland madness ) and I helped him get a Honda Trail 90 running, and took it for a test ride around the farm, and then gave lessons to the Grandson... Also taught how to fly a parafoil kite, some basic lifeguarding, and generally ruin the neighbor's ( young couple ) preconceptions when we fixed their teens mountain bike, and I test rode it up the hill, through the woods, and the 14 year old couldn't make it up the hill.... ( admittedly it was a skill, not power difference ) |

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/03/the -liberal-arts-are-a-right-wing-plot.php My generation got the dumbed down and biased lefty version of history. This one gets almost no truth about the past, at all. One of the things I learned about history from actually using old technology, is there's a bipolar attitude about "ancient people" that isn't new to today's liars. A. They were ignorant back then, not having our total and complete understanding of Science! B. How did they possibly move such heavy rocks? Dress those stones so cleanly you still can't get a razor between them? Without big steam engines? ( diesels, helicopters, repulser rays, antimatter containment... ) Leading inevitably to "Must have been Aliens or Antlantean Wizards! Because there's no way the idiots way back then could have done ( local big thing we forgot How to do ) Since we can't!" And that bipolar view is really old. I've read accounts from Byzantine officers marvelling at the pyramids and ruins of Babylon. Then medieval Crusaders awed by the Byzantine Hagia Sofia! English WW2 officers freaked by Roman Aqueducts. And there's a big comedy about how hard it was for the Brits to not only steal, but build iron rafts for, Egyptian monoliths. To tow back to England. Plus how hard it was to crane them upright in London. A. .... Is All Wrong. Science is only partially grasped today, and you're incredibly ignorant to not believe that the water transport systems of Persia ( modern Syria/Iraq/Iran) required precision math, surveying, and understanding of hydraulics. Doesn't help that most of that civilization was destroyed by Tamerlane, who solved the problem of siege warfare by breaking the water systems and murdering all the peasants outside the walled city fortresses. ( who could no longer farm, or snuggle food in... Being dead. Much easier than using his army's swords to cut down olive trees and wheat ) B. Just because you can't figure it out, just means your civilization sucks. I get that no one wants to think of themselves as crude barbarians occupying the ruins of a civilization they destroyed... See also, Portland, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Chicago. |
