I went to Wrigley a couple years ago with my grandson and had to donate my pocket knife. That's one to MLB and now four to TSA. |

At that game I talked to a bouncer at the bar across the street and he held my folding knife for me and I gave him a $10 afterwards. It was the season they won the Series and even though they lost our game to the Cards, I have been "enhancing" the story to where we were actually there for the final game of the Series. |

To break from the theme of stupid/tyrannical politicians... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JPYbyQmpmRc The C&Rrsenal crew started their video series when a German team began The Great War project to put out a detailed history of WW1 a century later. But covering the weapons of The Great War was highly problematic in lefty Europe and especially Germany. So they reached out to some crazy Americans who had a website with good history and pictures, to get permission to use pictures... But... The C&Rsenal ( curio & relic ) crew were going to start doing videos, and agreed to take on EVERY FRACKING GUN of WW1 instead, with incredible detail on development, technical details, evolution & theft, even who bought how many when... !!! And from Day One the growing fans wanted a show on the Classic American pistol of the War. Doing a half ssed job isn't their thing. They waited, got into the previous John Moses Browning designs and laid out the entire ( almost, they're still working on it ) history in incredible detail of the Evolution of The Modern American Pistol. Which is still in production and fanatically beloved over a century later. I'm going to say that the 2 HOURS of the above video is worth watching if you're a 1911 fan, but "worse" !!! there's more hours to study if you want the entire picture of the 1911 & the American Service Pistol this last century and a half, and it's great. Personally I don't care about the production numbers in detail, but I Do enjoy the technical details to a large extent. What contract they dropped the lanyard loop on the magazine is pretty obscure, only mildly interesting to me personally, but nobody else has shown the little details on how, for example, the sear works on such a range of firearms and the Evolution of features and safeties on our planet. So, sure, you might not care about out of battery safety, and be highly interested in sight pictures, or vice versa. Both are explored in these videos and they are a historical and technical treasure. |

So, I've been contemplating getting a .22LR plinker of some sort. Been looking at revolvers...maybe something in an AR platform...maybe an old-school lever, or bolt action. Dunno. Just want something I can use to practice trigger and sighting, without spending a fortune on .223, 5.56, or 9mm ammo. Only catch on a long gun is, I'm a lefty... Any ideas or recommendations? |

Ruger Single Six. ( now available in 7,9,& 10 shot. ) But the price on them new is pretty high, so the Ceracoat Wrangler model at under $300 is a good deal. It's not an ideal self defense weapon, it's painfully slow to reload, and a "mag dump" "last empty pay for beer" is a sure loser. ( not that I've ever heard that, my friends aren't rich idiots ) But they are plenty accurate, and will improve your aim, patience, and appreciation for the folk back in "cowboy days". It's definitely a taste thing! Personally I'd check out the local stores for a used one. And that's normally my suggestion for most people, since you never know what is on the shelf next to the S&W500 Magnum with the box of shells with only 1-5 missing. Some great deals! I also like the new Ruger Mk IV, which despite being uglier, ( than the original Luger inspired classic ) can be quickly and easily disassembled unlike the original which took arcane knowledge from a Druid and fingers with the strength of an iron hand martial artist and a watchmaker's dexterity. ( It's not quite that bad, but many have never been properly cleaned. Ever. ) And if you're a 1911 guy, the "45" versions have the same grip angle and that's great for training. Or, if you want a cut down pistol version of a rifle, ( like the AR ) the Charger is the pistol version of the 10/22. But I stick with my suggestion for the used racks. You can get a well loved Single Six & a weird collectors item for the price of anything new. Maybe. It's a gamble. The local shop has had the oddest guns. A near cherry Eddystone 1917 Enfield! (Unfortunately they knew what it was worth ) A Ruger #1 in .458 Winchester Magnum! ( why???? It's an expert single shot Rhino killer! Must have been a romantic purchase. For that bucket list safari.) |

https://instapundit.com/610503/ A buddy has a mint High Standard version of the Dan Wesson revolver, without the interchangeable barrel feature. 4" full size .357 Magnum. I'm thinking about buying it as a "bedside safe" arm. Opinions? |

https://instapundit.com/611074/ I'm guessing he has snappy brown shirts with lightning bolt pins picked out for his future children to be raised by the State. Can't think of any other uniform he anticipates them wearing, except that stunning black with totenkopf patches, so chic! Yeah, I'm fine with voluntary eugenics. I don't want him to reproduce either. And don't forget the Carbon footprint! |

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/k2AyGIeeL7M German cops using "controversial pain grip" to move protesters. Yeah. I laughed. First, I learned this in Jukado ( an Americanized judo/karate hybrid IMHO ) in jr. High school AP gym classes. It's one of those "great" moves that really only works if the other guy is passive. Hurts like heck, sure, but it's a "come along" move for when you are not worried about getting kicked in the nuts by the person you just made really angry. DAMHIK. To see cops use it to remove protesters and it be "controversial" just makes me want to show the Media Wimp my preferred method of moving an unwilling person I learned in Life Guard class. Hair pull. When you are dealing with a panic case in the water, they try to climb up you, potentially killing you both. So go for a good solid grip from behind, on hair, ( doesn't work on bald or buzz cuts ) the other person grabs your hand to reduce pain, and you tow them, face up, while trying to calm them down. Polite verbal if possible. I find most folk once they are stable in the water and a calm voice is telling them to do what they are already doing, ( hold my hand tight ) they mellow out a bit, and sometimes you can even transition them to a more comfortable hold to pull them to shore, but it's not necessary. The hair pull will do the job until you can get them to something else to grab. But not all folk mellow out. Screamers? Let them, it doesn't bother me, and it might attract more aid. I have had to tell one a few times to grab my hand tight to their head, but I understand some people are pretty far down the backside of the bell curve, and almost drowning is pretty traumatic. Slack should be given when folk get freaked, sometimes. Then there's the strugglers. Usually big guys, and I don't want them to kill me in panic mode. So those, I roll them face down, briefly, and give them air again while speaking calmly. It usually doesn't take more than 3 rolls to get their attention. ( I admit after 3 rolls I do calmly explain that a dead weight is easier to rescue ) And in the most extreme cases, I'd bring back the idiot unconscious, but I haven't had to go that far. So if I had to move a "protester" out of danger, I'd go for the hair pull, as the least violent and humane method. Yeah, I'd be vilified in the Party Media, but it's better than my initial preference which involves rope and a trailer hitch. |

Btw, once your towed new best friend ( sarcasm depending upon circumstances. Some guy 150 yards from the beach you sure are, a Stop Oil protester over asphalt, not so much ) gets a good grip on your towing hand, you don't need to grip the hair at all. You just palm the head like a ball. Let them work at hanging on, so you can dedicate muscle to getting them to safety. Another thing I learned as a Lifeguard is that there are different types of screams. Kids scream all the time, and the happy and excited screams are good noise you couldn't stop if you tried without being a real jerk. Sure, loud noises can trigger fear reactions, and be really annoying, but it's better by far than the silence of someone who isn't breathing. Lots better. |

https://www.battleswarmblog.com/?p=56280 California bans legally armed Citizens from houses of worship. They just couldn't slide a gun ban for Jews in after the Supreme court rulings, but that's ok, since they are good with a broad preparation for Kristelnacht 2024 next spring. Newsom, CCP, are fine if Christian churches are attacked too. |
