A question from Aussie about changing out an S1 swingarm to fit an X1. I see on some S1 models that they already have them on.If so why and how differcult is it to change? |

American Sportbike has a kit that includes all the necessary hardware. |

Uh, we DO? I'm not so sure. Heck, there is still some things I'm learning about this company I bought. But while I've already helped a couple folks do this conversion since I bought the biz, by getting a copy of the B2Win article, providing some of the parts (or in one case, All, from my own private stash), and providing verbal guidance, we don't really have a kit for doing it that I'm aware of. We do have the polished swingarms though. Al |

OK, maybe you don't anymore. You used to, I'm sure of it. |

It didn't include the swingarm, just the other little bits you need. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think so though. At any rate Gator, apparently you'll need to find a different source. They're all available through your dealer. I would go down and ask them to break out a parts book for a 99+ and figure out what you need. Good luck man. Jeff |

I did it the easy way...bought a 'fire sale' '99 frame for $200. You need the mount piece that goes between the swing arm and the motor, a new axle, the swing arm and adjustors, 4 well nuts, the fender (an M2 one works OK) Now you can grind away at the old mount... |

Dave - man your S1 looks awesome! Do you have any other pictures you could post? Are you still running the dual-carb set-up? Tony |

OK all you Buell mechanical genuises - I've got a stumper for ya. Putting a newer-style aluminum swingarm on a late 90's tube frame unit seems like it's not a really big problem. How about fitting one to a '91 RS? I asked this Q in KV but got only one response. What do you think, is it possible without resorting to major frame reconstruction? (or even minor frame reconstruction) I think a nicely polished aluminum swingarm would be a real looker on my bike, plus maybe lose some unsprung weight. Could be I'm delusional and should just shut up and go get the turbo back in operation and ride it. Dave - that S-1 is freakin' glorious! AL |
