Here is another facet. If you're in the religion you hear your shaman preach and know the truth. For years. If you're in some of the Christian sects you heard damnation to the sinner and turn the other cheek and other basic messages. If you're smart and cynical enough you notice the control aspects of our weekly sermon. Defer to your Elders, just absorb abuse, internalize desire, etc. ( not saying these are evil manipulations, though sometimes it is, but it's supposed to be mind shaping for a better society. Right? ) Ditto the Islamic sects. It's culturally different manipulation. More obedience? Maybe, but more Anger and resentment channeled into violence for the Leaders to direct. It's a warlord cult. Look at the 2022 D Party agitprop. Fear the Enemy, hate the Enemy, "beat" the Enemy. The Enemy will destroy the fabric of society in his selfish wickedness! There are no limits to what we will do to destroy the Enemy. ( by any means necessary ) ( Marx & subsequent cult leaders stole a lot of manipulation technique from Islam. Some from the Roman church, some from Madison ave. ( or it's Paris version ) ) So, sure, a Muslim knows the sermons and thus knows the violence built in. There's also good aspects of most faiths, including Islam. There's a solid anti greed charity message in there. If you're, say, Catholic, you could point to it's positive cultural slant. Ditto your favorite here. Every Organized Church is a tool for men to manipulate others. Content matters. | ||

True. I point out that the Sunni & Shia sects differ a bit, on the subject, and they are the dominant sects. Both claim exclusive, "we're the only true faith", ( not unusual, several if not most sects claim that, Christian, Hindu, etc. ) and follow some but not all of the same Hadiths. Others don't. I have read very few of the extra, later, Hadiths. The original English translation of the Koran or Qur'an I have read. As an infidel and outsider, brought up with a bible with Old & New Testament divisions, I consider the Hadiths as fanfic. ( seriously, but not the erotic stuff, more like 1970s Star Trek novels ) Extra chapters written sometimes centuries later. There are some parallels with Papal decrees on specific articles of faith, rulings on certain subjects, like fish on friday. But it's not exactly the same. There's no central authority, so each Hadith might as well be written by a different televangelist, each with his own agenda.
