In their defense, 1966 was, I believe, before they let all the crazies out of the loony bins. A murderer can be let out of jail with no bail now within a day. People have good reason to watch their kids. The unfortunate result is as the article claims. A conspiracy nut might think this was all part of a plan to bring down America. You have to understand the different forms and strategies of terrorist organizations. Classical Western ( commie ) terrorism seeks to wreck trust in the government, by goading it into over reacting, and becoming a worse alternative than the promises of the Revolution. I don't really have to point out that ongoing process... Stage 2 Regime terrorism is the State ( usually after the Revolution takes over ) using terror to STAY in power. See Iran, China, Cuba, Canada... Islamist terrorism is more directly genocidal and generally is less interested in pushing the government to over react, & more overt at establishing fear/obedience/silence and is more like Regime protection terror, which it naturally transitions to after taking power. See Iran, Egypt, and the Obama's wars swath from the Atlantic to the 'stans. Most of "cancel culture" and the ANTIFA/BLM/Soros riots are more Regime Protection terror than overtly revolutionary, since the leaders are already in power, and the terrorists are both giving excuses for violating Constitutional rights and attacking the critics of the Regime. Infrastructure attacks, like above, are often from a foreign power to make their enemies suffer. ( see Putin's War ) If domestic, you can assume it's the Classical "push the people into asking for a "strong man" to save them", if the Regime is the target, ( like when the Bad Orange Man was in office ) or if the Regime is the beneficiary, covert Regime Protection terror. And various combinations in history. Blaming a rival group for terrorism is quite popular, and if one doesn't really exist, make one up. Or just pick on previous useful targets. I've noticed that history is rhyming like crazy, with anti semitism and accusations of treason reminding me of several examples that didn't turn out too good for the public. | |||

It sometimes amazes me how people don't learn from history. Then I recall the meme "Those who know history are condemned to watch others who don't repeat it." Ruby Ridge teaches 2 lessons. 1. If someone asks you to break the law? Don't do it! ( and walk! They're either crooked law enforcement or incompetent crooks, neither people you want to associate with ) 2. Crooks have no respect for truth, your life, or anything except self gratification. That's true with a mugger or Federal Cop. I'll point out a couple of details, an "agent" of the government asked a guy to break the law for him by cutting the barrel of a shotgun For The Purpose of charging him with a serious Federal crime. In the subsequent debacle, instead of any rational arrest scenario of an armed guy like a roadblock on the road from his house in the woods to town, they staged a multi group paramilitary assault with snipers and helicopters and end up murdering his son, wife, and dog, before negotiations by civilian not idiots ended an 11 day seige of a grieving man with his wife's corpse and in a cabin in the woods. Then with the Waco massacre, we learn that Federal Police will lie to the public, Congress, and Other law enforcement AND the military, to cover their screw ups. Oh, and murder large numbers of people to end embarrassing situations. I'll be up front that I'm generally pro police. I'm a big believer in the "Sheep, wolves, sheepdogs." Perspective on violence and responsibility. Crooked cops are the worst criminals. Hollywood used to make decent movies about that. | |||
