VR headsets often cause nausea and headaches, for some people. There are other issues with the technology and applications, but it can be very useful, if you tolerate it. Better graphics and interactive environment exist in the gaming world. My favorite "hack" on the censorship and oppression from ruthless dictatorships, where tweeting a message to others in a "resistance" literally gets you murdered, and others identified & caught, is in games. It's only a little temporary paranoia here, today, in the US, to think jackbooted thugs will break down your door and carry you off to never be seen again, if you, say, "follow" a Trump fan twit. But it's real as rotting corpses in Iran, China, etc. and the Putin Empire. So "revolutionaries" play video games and write temporary messages on walls with sniper rifles or subguns, to communicate with other cells and cell members. Unlike voice or text communication, the time fading bullet marks aren't easily accessible by the government. It's not unlikely that a brutal dictatorship may fall because of coordination between groups in a video game. If you're a Real Geek, that world changing message might even be in Klingon. | ||
