The question is, would Seattle vote for annexation? Lots of Soviet Thinkers there, if not Russian Speakers. How would Redmond vote on annexation? The rest of the state might vote yes to voluntarily give up the port if they put up a closed border. The question is moot. Chile may annex the entire West coast strip based on Spanish language use. Oh, sure, It's better than Russian tv.  Reason for Seattle to leave? Not this month, sure can't think of one. In January, if Europe doesn't boil over, and Iran doesn't nuke their own university cities, then maybe the rulers of the city might want to join Canada to avoid potential scrutiny, but that's only tangentially related to the potential growth of the Federation into a resurgent Empire. As to the reasons for the invasion, war upon, genocide, and kidnapping that is the "special operation", I'm going with the classic reason for war. One King wants another's stuff. Land, peasants, industry, resources, the usual. In the case of the former KGB guy, you can toss in strategic position, to set up the expansion of empire to the former conquests, and beyond into the E.U., too much risk going around Ukraine to the rest of Europe, but that's still just grand theft country. And the mass destruction by artillery of industrial and population centers is just vicious and vengeful tantrums. If I can't have it, no one will. And a psychopathic anger at being denied their whim. It's not a coincidence that there is protests and mass murder in Iran. Italy electing a moderate. And China preparing to recrown ( confirm the God King status of ) Xi. ( and the "internal matter" ( sarcasm) of crushing rival economic powers like Hong Kong and Taiwan ) The pendulum swings. Lots of effort and lives have been spent over the centuries trying to freeze change. Hey, if I knew the future I'd know where to invest. | ||
