However, possession of an arbitrary quantity automatically makes you a DEALER in the eyes of the law. And sure, Joe* is desperately pandering to his base, journalism students, who famously smoke nearly as much weed as professors. ( anecdotal evidence, yes, but I worked in a campus area convenience store, and we didn't stock rolling papers. That was my nice Christian lady owner's choice. No Playboy either. The 1+ am students wanting to roll joints were often journo majors. Amusingly, they were also the dumbest stoners I dealt with daily. Yes, I asked what their majors were. My stock answer to the complaint we didn't have papers was to point to the apples and offer a piece of aluminum foil. When that confused them ( nearly 99% of the time ) I would tell them to go find an engineering student. Plus offer the Opinion that if they couldn't figure out how to make a pipe with toilet paper rolls and household items, they didn't Deserve to get high. Not a popular opinion for idiots. Although the EE students thought it funny. ) So, absolutely pandering. But I don't care about motivation if the decision is a good one. I will point out that Obama was a stoner ( he said so & there is photographic proof ) and was notoriously anti-pot in his enforcement policies. Hypocritical #$%&. Barry the Weasel never changed the law so others wouldn't be harmed by a law he didn't obey or believe in. I won't get into the history of racist Pot laws except to point out that most drug laws were the result of the end of Prohibition, where a huge number of police were hired to fight the crime of getting a buzz after work. All those cops needed a job to do, and since pot was the drug of Black Jazz musicians ( and Willie Nelson ) it was an easy one to ban. Just watch the Reefer Terror movies and the propaganda that the White Kids were being corrupted. And as we said in the 1970s about 1936's Reefer Madness, "one joint, 2 murders, a suicide, and one institutionalized for insanity! You can't buy pot that good anymore!" Mostly I'm just annoyed/mildly angry, that it took this long to change a stupid law. And that it's probably an illegal action by Joe* that will get challenged in court. And laugh at the irony of Joe* pardoning pot criminals as his son may be about to get busted and use the defense that he's an addict and not responsible for his crimes. ( but only busted for "nothing to do with millions in bribe money for The Big Guy" offences ) And I'm especially annoyed at Republican Congresscritters who blew a chance at legalizing marijuana and reaping the votes. But they still have a chance. Otoh, I've joked for decades that pot will never be legalized because stoners forget to vote. | ||

Veep Harris* gave a rant in a library the other day where she spoke an actual Truth. I'm having a hard time finding a full transcript of The speech in Austin, which apparently focused on frightening women about The Insurrection Party taking away their rights. But she started with The claim she spoke facts, not politics, and said basically... The filibuster gets in the way of unchecked Congressional Power. Yes! That's what it's supposed to do! Without a transcript I cannot properly praise her for getting something right in an otherwise fact free fear mongering call to action, but you can take my word for it. Yes, Kamala spoke a truth! She didn't like The truth, and hated any limits on the Power of Congress to make hasty decisions by just one Party, totally understandable, and obviously wanted that truth eliminated from her path, and also didn't understand why the filibuster is a good idea, but she did say it while complaining about it! Just making sure that she gets credit! | ||

Which tracks with my opinion, that it will perhaps, later, give the U.S. a lead in selling gas to Europe. I even suggested that in early Spring, when Europe would have 8 months to reactivate reactors and coal power plants and it would have ruined Putin's carrot and stick strategy. But you'd have to be an idiot to make that play today. After 2 years of deliberately slowing and stopping production and development, there isn't any gas to promise, not nearly enough to save lives and prevent industry shutting down this winter. Unfortunately Joe* or rather the "staff" that writes his scripts and tells us to ignore him when he goes off script, do seem to be idiots, or evil treasonous scum. I have my opinion, but proof that "they" aren't cretins is hard to come by. You'd have to assume "they" actually want to have a nasty war, and want or not give a darn when lots and lots of people to die, which unfortunately seems to be the case, looking at Chinese fentanyl imports, border policy that welcomes the criminals kicked out of Venezuela prisons but not doctors. ...and this is why I have a chimney sweep coming in a week.... House built in 1987. OVERbuilt - the guy was a custom home builder (by trade - woodworker by hobby), and this is the home he built for himself and his family. 3 section crown molding; 2 section chair rail; 5" custom oak floors throughout; 19" thick hand-laid stone walls made from an old stone fence that was on the property; you name it, it's overdone. True chimney, 3-stack for the living room fireplace, the oil boiler in the basement (exhaust and intake). Has had a gas log setup in the living room since day one. I'm on 4 acres. Wooded. PLENTY of deadfalls. Energy prices are going up....I'm getting rid of the gas log, having the chimney checked...and burning WOOD. Should save a lot of wear and tear (and electricity!) on the heat pump... | ||

The Saudis figure there's a recession, even if Joe* denies it, and demand will drop, and thus their profit. Reducing production keeps the price up. Joe* is supporting the Iranian Mullahs over the people of Iran by giving them billions, and also over the Saudis, Israelis, and the rest of the Abraham Accords peace partners. So Joe* asking them to support his Party in this Midterms by delaying the production cuts, got a big "screw you", since his script writers declared his opposition to the Peace Partners.
