I always thought Aleix Espargaro was one of the most under-rated riders on the grid. I still remember that pre-season he was on the Forward Racing CRT Yamaha embarrassing some of the regulars. Although some were saying the Yamaha had an unfair advantage, there were those who knew that "unfair advantage" was Aleix.
Good to see him on something competitive. He's worked hard for this and deserves it!
Moto3 was incredible. David Munoz was unreal. This was his 2nd MotoGP race as he has just turned 16 and become eligible to race. He came all the way from 20th. He’s going to one to watch.
Moto 3 has always been my favorite in terms of the racing action. I actually miss that more than GP. How about that Espargaro? I bet he never makes that mistake again!
I think it is a great idea. They are copying WSBK to a point. The idea is to have a race on Saturday, which is certainly more exciting than another practice session (don't they have 3 practice sessions?) I guess the riders think that another race is more risk? I always thought racers prefer to race, but maybe in this day and age that is an incorrect assumption.
It will not take the luster off of Sunday and it will add a new dimension to the GP weekend. Shorter races equals more intense racing from the green flag and less worry about burning up tires. GP racing is boring these days and it needs something. When in doubt copy a series that is on the upward trend and that would be WSBK.
I see some complaints the teams need practice time to dial in the bike. I think they might just have to ride a bike that isn't perfect. Part of racing is riding around deficiencies in the machinery. Maybe the focus might shift back to rider skill from from electronics/aero. I don't mind that at all.

On the contrary, I love motorcycle racing. GP is mostly processional with little passing. MA gets smaller every year in terms of the paddock and fan support. I just call it like I see it.
You should get a sub to WSBK and see how a series is done correctly. They bang bars from flag to flag...it is take no prisoners racing. And there is even some friction between racers which is refreshing.

The "gyro" camera pod has been there for ages, but the rear fins are obviously new (and fugly like the front wings). I am shocked that nobody other than Ducati knows the actual purpose of the fins. Seems like that would be a tough secret to keep.
Saw the extended highlights. Not so good for MM. Looked like a good race, especially considering how processional GP has become. Aragon is one of the best tracks in the world IMHO.

Great race in Phillip Island. I just saw the extended highlights. Another iconic track for sure. GP extended highlights come out a few days after the weekend on Youtube.
Just as last year was Yamaha's year, this looks to be Ducati's year. The only fly in the ointment was Gagne's victory in MotoAmerica (I don't follow BSB so I don't know what's going on over there). Sure looks like Ducati has both roadracing world championships sewn up though.
Just like I have said on many occasions, no matter what you think of Ducati, you have to give them mad props for their dedication (and success) in racing. It is crazy expensive and they are not much more than a boutique motorcycle company when compared to the Japanese brands. Suzuki and Kawasaki won't even field a GP team next year.
I see Honda is trying to rehabilitate this bastard's image. As far as I'm concerned he is and always will be gutter trash for the way he treated Nicky Hayden.
I always liked the way Rins rode--he seemed to mesh well with the strengths of the Suzuki. He was smooth and fast in the corners. I still remember a race a few years back where Rins was so much faster than MM in the corners that MM had to resort to brake checking Rins in the corners. As we all know, having to let off the gas or brake at near full lean is never a fun or safe endeavor. I do believe Rins eventually won that memorable race.
